Directed/co-written by Darius Marder, Sound of Metal is a new drama/music film starring Riz Ahmed and about a heavy-metal drummer’s journey through hearing loss.

Additional key cast includes Olivia Cooke and Mathieu Amalric.

I’m very excited by Ahmed’s performance in this one. What this trailer has shown takes me back to his brilliant work in Nightcrawler (2014), alongside Jake Gyllenhaal

The subject matter is also equally intriguing. Particularly since it seems that there are many films about people losing their sight, and Sound of Metal is the only one I’m aware of that focuses on hearing loss.

Lauren Ridloff, Jamie Ghazarian, Chris Perfetti, William Xifaras, Hillary Baack, Paul Raci, Bill Thorpe and Chelsea Lee also star.
