In the new Daddy’s Home trailer starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, it looks like the famous charisma and charm synonymous with Wahlberg, coupled with Ferrell’s comedy expertise is going to result in a very funny movie. Especially when you add the ‘cool biological dad versus ‘new and not at all cool stepdad’ dynamic…
Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris (part of the team behind 2013 comedy hit We’re The Millers), there’s no reason not to hope for good things.
Read my spoiler-free movie review ofSicario (2015)
In Mexico, Sicario means hitman. It is also the name of the new Denis Villeneuve directed crime / mystery / drama about a ‘fish out of water’ FBI agent enlisted to fight the escalating war on drugs in Mexico – whilst accompanied by a mysterious consultant.
With something of an End Of Watch (2012) vibe (which you know is a great thing if you’ve seen the Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena film); Sicario’s main stars include Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya and Jon Bernthal.
Why trailer of the week? The execution that doesn’t give too much away, but just enough to get you excited, the excellent editing and that gloriously unsettling musical score, courtesy of Johann Johannsson.
Josh Lawson is the writer / director of one of the funniest films I’ve seen recently.
Starring Lawson himself, Bojana Novakovic, Ben Lawson, Kate Mulvany, T.J. Power and Kate Box, The Little Death is a modern sex comedy based on the lives of five suburban couples living in Sydney, Australia.
Due to some clever story telling and a well chosen sound track, by the end of the film you will find yourself not quite ready for the stories of each of the couples to come to an end.
Watch it because it’s good; to learn a few things about the sexual peculiarities of the human and because you’re in the mood to laugh. You’ll very likely also be inspired to work harder on becoming a more effective communicator in your relationships. See for yourself.
Here’s my favourite song on the soundtrack. Sleeping at last-‘Light’
