THE LEGEND OF BARNEY THOMSON (2015): Good Murderous Fun Is On The Way…

I love Emma Thompson and it looks like her new film which features Robert Carlyle as Director and star will only make me love her more.

Also starring Ray Winstone and Ashley Jensen, The Legend of Barney Thomson is a comedy about a man whose life changes suddenly from desperate mediocrity to something sinister and far more interesting…

The truth is, I’m liking it already because it remind me of The Voices (2014).

DADDY’S HOME (2015): New Comedy From Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell

In the new Daddy’s Home trailer starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, it looks like the famous charisma and charm synonymous with Wahlberg, coupled with Ferrell’s comedy expertise is going to result in a very funny movie. Especially when you add the ‘cool biological dad versus ‘new and not at all cool stepdad’ dynamic…

Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris (part of the team behind 2013 comedy hit We’re The Millers), there’s no reason not to hope for good things.

SICARIO (2015): Trailer Of The Week, Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Daniel Kaluuya…

In Mexico, Sicario means hitman. It is also the name of the new Denis Villeneuve directed crime / mystery / drama about a ‘fish out of water’ FBI agent enlisted to fight the escalating war on drugs in Mexico – whilst accompanied by a mysterious consultant.

With something of an End Of Watch (2012) vibe (which you know is a great thing if you’ve seen the Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena film); Sicario’s main stars include Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya and Jon Bernthal.

Why trailer of the week? The execution that doesn’t give too much away, but just enough to get you excited, the excellent editing and that gloriously unsettling musical score, courtesy of Johann Johannsson.

I am mad excited.

THE RUNNER (2015): New From Nicolas Cage & Promising…

The Runner (2015), Nicolas Cage
The Runner (2015), Nicolas Cage

I’m convinced that the fact I haven’t watched a Nicolas Cage film in a while is finally going to change.

The reason? A new trailer for the Austin Stark directed, The Runner which also stars Connie Nielsen, Sarah Paulson and Peter Fonda.

The idealistic and flawed congressman character played by Cage is certainly intriguing.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2 (2015): Bring On The End

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Sam Claflin, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson, the trailer for the final installment of The Hunger Games films is here.

In this Francis Lawrence directed finale, one thing is clear, President Snow’s reign must end.

I really do  hope that it’s a spectacle as exciting as can be. Also How true is the idea that President Snow is probably the worst possible Santa Claus anyone could ever imagine?

Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland and Julianne Moore also star.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. (2015): New & Intriguing Spy Movie From Guy Ritchie

I’m a Guy Ritchie fan, thanks to his first two big hit films, Lock Stock & Two smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000).

Fast forward to 2015 and the release of his latest film The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will soon be upon us. There’s plenty going on in the trailer and I for one am quite intrigued.

Starring Henry Cavill (a.k.a. Superman), Alicia Vikander, Armie Hammer, Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Debicki, I’m going to trust inRitchie’s track record of great style, storytelling and witty dialogue.

There’ll also be some crossed fingers in hopes of the absence of dodgy accents.

Happy The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 🙂

THE LITTLE DEATH (2014): A Most Pleasant Surprise

The Little Death (2014), Josh Lawson, Bojana Novakovic
The Little Death (2014), Josh Lawson, Bojana Novakovic

Josh Lawson is the writer / director of one of the funniest films I’ve seen recently.

Starring Lawson himself, Bojana Novakovic, Ben Lawson, Kate Mulvany, T.J. Power and Kate Box, The Little Death is a modern sex comedy based on the lives of five suburban couples living in Sydney, Australia.

Due to some clever story telling and a well chosen sound track, by the end of the film you will find yourself not quite ready for the stories of each of the couples to come to an end.

Watch it because it’s good; to learn a few things about the sexual peculiarities of the human and because you’re in the mood to laugh. You’ll very likely also be inspired to work harder on becoming a more effective communicator in your relationships. See for yourself.

Here’s my favourite song on the soundtrack. Sleeping at last-‘Light’
