TAKEN 3 (2014): Why It’s Worth Watching

Taken 3 (2014), Liam Neeson

If you must watch only one Taken movie, please watch the original (Taken 2008) because it’s the very best.

Taken 2 (2012) was ok and Taken 3 is quite the fun ride. Even though there isn’t much of a ‘taking’ so to speak, in Taken 3, the dynamic of the chase between Bryan Mills (Neeson) and the smart police officer played by Forrest Whitaker more than makes up for it.

There’s also a fantastic scene towards the end at Santa Monica airport involving a Porsche and a plane. So good, I would have yelped louder had it not been for the neighbours.

Watch it because you’ve watched the original, the second and now you want to see how it all wraps up and because it’s good.

Happy Tak3n 🙂

SPECTRE (2015): Welcome James. It’s Been A Long Time…

Spectre (2015), Daniel Craig

Sam Mendes, the Director of my favourite film, American Beauty (1999) said yes to making his second James Bond movie – and the first teaser trailer for Spectre (2015) has now arrived.

It looks like we’ll be getting more of the signature breathtaking cinematography, musical score, action sequences and the super dialogue typical of recent Bond films.

With some of Europe’s finest film making talent at the helm – Sam Mendes, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and of course, Daniel Craig, all we have left to do now is look forward to the final product and hope that the next trailer or two don’t reveal too much of the plot.

Happy Spectre 🙂

I really really, REALLY, want this  Mission Impossible movie to be as thrilling as the trailers. Please, please, Movie Gods, please!

The people behind the franchise have delivered another excellent marriage of pace, music dialogue and visuals. Just one more reason to look forward to July 2015.

Hope. I’ll take that from them first’

More great Ultron (James Spader) dialogue.

Also, how visually stunning is what happens from 1:47 to 1:58 seconds?

Without further ado….

KINGSMAN – THE SECRET SERVICE (2014): Now I’ll Definitely See It

Kingsman, The Secret Service (2014), Colin Firth, Taron Egerton

The great new Super Bowl trailer for Director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingman The Secret Service has convinced me to watch the film. I was only mildly intrigued before.

I does help that Kingsman is written by Jane Goldman – whose other writing credits include Kick-Ass (2010) and X-Men First Class (2011).

There is one thing that doesn’t sit quite so easily with me about this trailer – and that would be the claim by Alex Zane of the UK’s Sun newspaper, that Kingman – The Secret Service  is ‘More Badass Than Bond.’ Please! PLEASE, I say! It’s incredibly hard to believe that there’s any other British spy movie more badass than Daniel Craig’s Bond. Incredibly hard to believe!

But we’ll see…

Happy Kingsman, The Secret Service 🙂

AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON (2015): James Spader’s Voice… *Sigh

Avengers, Age Of Ultron (2015): James Spader, Ultron
Avengers, Age Of Ultron (2015): James Spader, Ultron

If you thought the first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers, Age of Ultron was good, there is more.

Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man… all the avengers are great. But as the movie title states. This is all about Ultron.

I’m going to tear you apart… from the inside

Really hear these words delivered by the wonderfully voiced James Spader (Ultron), and I think you’ll agree that evil has never sounded so good.

To think I believed ‘There are no strings on me from the first trailer was the best line…

2015 is going to be one of the best years for film. Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! That is a scream of joy. Holding it in? – not possible.

Happy Avengers, Age of Ultron trailer 🙂

ANT-MAN (2015): Yes. I Will Believe In Paul Rudd

Ant-Man (2015), Paul Rudd
Ant-Man (2015), Paul Rudd

Ant-Man is possibly the most uncool superhero name out there. I say this whilst being completely unfamiliar with pretty much all comic books.

Since it is Marvel, I’m hoping very much that I’m proven more wrong than ever before. Please, the powers that be…

See the teaser trailer for yourself…

What do you think? I’ll watch because I enjoy the work of Paul Rudd. Also, how young does Michael Douglas look in the preview?

Trailer 1…

Happy Ant-Man 🙂

THE EQUALIZER (2014): ‘Badassery’ Denzel Washington Style

The Equaliser (2014), Denzel Washington
The Equaliser (2014), Denzel Washington

Director Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer makes me think of Taken (2008) and Taxi Driver (1976). It’s unsurprising since all three films feature young girls who end up in very unfortunate predicaments, but luckily for them, an individual takes it upon themselves to do everything they can to make things right.

I love stories like this because not many who find themselves in such precarious situations are as lucky. Seeing ‘baddie’s’ get what they deserve is always fun to watch. I mean, I can’t  even begin to tell you how happy I was at the end of Bryan De Palma’s Carrie (1976). 🙂

The Equaliser (2014), Denzel Washington, Chloë Grace Moretz

If you’re familiar with Washington, let’s face it, there a few who aren’t, then you know you’re in for a fun ride. Laced with action, good dialogue and Denzel style ‘badassery,’ The Equalizer will keep you entertained.

One of the most memorable moments for me is the swift move with the gun at Pushkin’s warehouse. It’s so very quick but certainly just as impressive each time I hit the replay button. I also love the music that starts at approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Watch it because it’s good.

Happy Film loving 🙂
