The super-secret and highly shady Task Force X is the team responsible for gathering The Suicide Squad; a selection of Super-Villains including Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Bloodsport, and other convicts from Belle Reve prison.

Dropped off at Corto Maltese, a remote, enemy-infused island, The Suicide Squad are tasked with destroying Jotunheim, a Nazi-era prison/ laboratory.

Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, John Cena and Viola Davis star, while James Gunn directs.

I still remember how excited I was after watching the trailer for the 2016 Suicide Squad movie. I’m looking at this as a do-over, in hopes that it will be the story that Robbie’s excellent turn as Harley Quinn always deserved.

This is one good looking trailer indeed. I can’t wait to enjoy the dialogue and take in all the colours plus, the exciting spectacle of it all.

Sylvester Stallone, Jai Courtney, Michael Rooker, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, David Dastmalchian, Sean Gunn and Mikaela Hoover also.

The Suicide Squad Release Dates: August 6th, 2021 (US & UK)…

In a drama that spans several decades; new action/adventure Jupiter’s Legacy is the story of a new generation of superheroes. One whose job it is to live up to their parents’ legacy and do their part in keeping the world safe.

Navigating the dynamics of family, power and loyalty, Jupiter’s legacy stars Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb and Andrew Horton

This teaser reveals a minimal amount. Nevertheless, I have a feeling I’m going to be happy with this series. Well, just as long as it isn’t as bad as the last movie I saw with ‘Jupiter’ in the title. I’m of course talking about Jupiter Ascending (2015). A surprise disappointment that starred Eddie Redmayne, Sean Bean, Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.

Elena Kampouris, Matt Lanter, Mike Wade, Tenika Davis, Meg Steedle, Anna Akana and Tyrone Benskin also star.

Jupiter’s Legacy Release Dates: May 7th, 2021 (US), Netflix…

The final trailer for Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s Marvel Studios series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is out at last, and it looks great.

Full disclosure, I like the earlier trailers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, it wasn’t until this version that I finally became excited about the series. This trailer embodies more of that Marvel Studios trailer signature that I love so much.

My only hope now is that I enjoy this a lot more than I did WandaVision (2021).

Miki Ishikawa, Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, Shane Berengue, John Gettier and Neal Kodinsky also star.

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse stars Michael B. Jordan as John Clark, a Navy SEAL who sets off on a personal mission to avenge his wife’s murder, only to find himself inside of a larger conspiracy.

Directed by Stefano Sollima; additional key cast includes Lauren London, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell and Guy Pearce.

I say bring on the well-choreographed fight/combat sequences. I’m more that ready to see Jordan believably portraying a Navy SEAL. I’m also ready to hear him say ‘No remorse‘ about one hundred more times.

Jacob Scipio, Todd Lasance, Jack Kesy, Lucy Russell, Cam Gigandet, Luke Mitchell, Artjom Gilz, Brett Gelman, Merab Ninidze and Alexander Mercury also star.

THUNDER FORCE (2021): New Trailer From Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Jason Bateman, Ben Falcone…

Thunder Force (2021), Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, Netflix
Thunder Force (2021), Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, Netflix

New action/fantasy Thunder Force stars Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Jason Bateman and Bobby Cannavale.

Written/directed by Ben Falcone; Spencer and McCarthy play two estranged childhood best friends who reunite after one devises a treatment that ends up giving both of them super powers.

My fingers are crossed that Thunder Force is one of those McCarthy movies that I really enjoy; rather than the variety I have to stop watching within 15 minutes.

There must be hope because I find myself very amused by the vision of McCarthy’s Lydia taking the rapid breaths at 0:51 in this trailer. Also, there’s the inclusion of Bateman, plus the chemistry between the two ladies that intrigues me.

Sarah Baker, Melissa Ponzio, Shane Berengue, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Braxton Bjerken, Trevor Larcom, Patrick R. Walker, Marcella Lowery and Taylor Mosby also star.

Thunder Force Release Dates: April 9th, 2021, (US), Netflix…

LUCA (2021): New Trailer From Disney Pixar, Starring Jacob Tremblay, Maya Rudolph, Jim Gaffigan…

Luca (2021), Disney Pixar

Luca, Disney Pixar’s latest animated adventure is set on the Italian Riviera. A place where an unlikely but strong friendship grows between a human being and a sea monster disguised as a human.

Directed by Enrico Casarosa; Luca stars Jacob Tremblay, Maya Rudolph and Jim Gaffigan.

I’m curious about this ‘fish boy’ story and how much it will have in common with The Little Mermaid (1989). There’s also the intrigue that stems from the gorgeous Italian Riviera setting, of course.

Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman and Marco Barricelli also star

Luca Release Dates: June 18th, 2021 (US & UK)…

MORTAL KOMBAT (2021): New Trailer Starring Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Joe Taslim…

Mortal Kombat (2021), Joe Taslim, Warner Bros. Pictures
Mortal Kombat (2021), Joe Taslim, Warner Bros. Pictures

The search of Earth’s greatest champions, all so they can stand against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe is what’s happening in new action/adventure/fantasy, Mortal Kombat.

Based on the popular video game of the same name, Mortal Kombat is directed by Simon McQuoid; and stars Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, plus Hiroyuki Sanada.

I definitely like this trailer more than expected. Especially when that perfectly epic music starts at 01:22.

There’s also the matter of the visuals. Particularly the scenes when Bi-Han/Sub-Zero is on screen. I’m sure that he’s the villain but the special effects with the ice, that’s my favourite.

Fingers crossed the story and everything else comes together beautifully. I mean, historically, making a great video game movie is no easy task. Remember Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed (2016)? I don’t because I was scared off after hearing terrible things.

Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Lewis Tan, Chin Han, Sisi Stringer, Mel Jarnson, Max Huang and Daniel Nelson also star.

Mortal Kombat Release Dates: April 16th, 2021 (US & UK)…

MISSING LINK (2019): The Things I Liked…

Missing Link (2019), Hugh Jackman
Missing Link (2019), Hugh Jackman

Missing Link, the story of Mr Link (a Big-Foot-like character) and his adventures with explorer Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman), plus adventurer Adelina Fortnight is an animated movie I found to be fun in parts and watchable.

The reason I’m not more enthused by writer/director Chris Butler’s film is that story-wise, it felt oddly superficial and more basic than I expected.

What I did enjoy are the interactions between Lionel and Link, plus the moments of heart, most of which happen in the more engaging last quarter. Emma Thompson’s character is another welcome highlight, and it proved quite satisfying to see Lionel’s growth/evolution as the story continued.

I watched Missing Link because the cast which also includes Zoe Saldana and Zack Galifianakis intrigued me. Yet, overall, I wish I could include Butler’s film on my list of favourite animated movies I’ve seen in recent years, but I cannot. Nevertheless, I say give Missing Link a chance if you’re particularly curious. It may just be what you need when you’re after an easy-viewing animated film experience.
