In new HBO crime/drama Mare of Easttown, detective Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) is trying to do her job while attempting to stop her own life from falling apart.

Set in a small Pennsylvania town, additional key cast includes Guy Pearce, Evan Peters, Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart

My interest levels were immediately high because it’s Winslet. Then lines like ‘Mare, I know what you’ve been through. And I know you’re worth saving.‘ happened. Now I’m extra curious. Especially since this trailer cleverly reveals very little.

Lastly, bring on the winning Winslet’s transformation, for I am ready.

Angourie Rice, Sosie Bacon, Izzy King, David Denman, Neal Huff, Cameron Mann, James McArdle, Kassie Mundhenk and Ben Miles also star.

I like the words ‘four young men who mistake their lives for a movie…’ With a description that starts like that I can’t help but expect good things. I’m looking forward to finding out how all the madness turns out.

Directed by Bryan Buckley; Evan Peters, Al Pacino and Barkhad Abdi star..

This could be interesting. Though, at the same time this trailer could have done a better job of selling the movie. I’m not in love with the way it ends. On a separate note, it’s good to see Abdi of Captain Philips (2013) playing a non-pirate role, as far as I can tell.

Melanie Griffith and Russell Posner also star.

I saw the names Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon which led me to immediately watching the new trailer for the Liza Johnson directed comedy,  Elvis & Nixon…

In terms of the casting, at first I thought, ‘What? Michael Shannon? As Elvis?’ But then I finished watching the trailer…

Shannon certainly doesn’t bear much of a facial resemblance to Elvis Presley but it does look like he’s succeeded in all the other key areas. I say this having not heard him sing. In fact, I’m not even sure that he’ll sing at all in the film. I’ll be watching for the comedy and the two lead actors.

Evan Peters, Colin Hanks and Alex Pettyfer also star.

Friday has arrived with a trailer starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence that I wasn’t aware was missing from my week.

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse is the latest instalment of the X-Men franchise and it looks good…

I like both trailers, the specific footage  and dialogue is great especially for trailer one. What I’m less keen on is the continued use of the music first heard at 1:10. I feel as though once was quite enough.

Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence  all return for this instalment, along with some new mutants.
