WEDNESDAY SEASON 2 (2025): The Things I Liked…

I’m fully claiming it. I enjoyed Wednesday Season 2 even more than the first. I don’t want to say that it feels bigger and better, but it is bigger and better. Just not in a way that reads as forced.

In this new season, Young Wednesday’s shenanigans remain at the centre of things, as expected. But the extra magic comes from a great story, Wednesday’s growing confidence, and how her family members are included in this season to great effect. For example, Catherine Zeta Jones really comes into her own as Morticia Addams, and Joanna Lumley is brilliant as Grandmama Hesta Frump.

Other memorable characters include Evie Templeton’s Agnes Demille, a.k.a. Wednesday’s stalker, and Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood.

Typical of films/shows that involve Tim Burton, the production design and costumes are beautiful, along with the cinematography and dialogue.

The worst thing I can say about Wednesday Season 2 is that Wednesday’s little brother, Pugsley Addams is annoying. However, even that failed to stick. Because when I turned to Google to see if others agreed, my displeasure dissipated when someone said that Pugsley is simply awkward… which is still arguably annoying, but perhaps more easily forgiven.

Make time for Wednesday Season 2. It really is well-executed and fun.

DEATH OF A UNICORN (2025): The Things I…

Death Of A Unicorn (2025), Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, A24
Death Of A Unicorn (2025), Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, A24

What to say about Death of a Unicorn, the Alex Scharfman-directed fantasy/horror/comedy about a father/daughter pair who hit a unicorn with their car while en route to a billionaire’s wilderness retreat.

It’s not so bad that I couldn’t sit through the whole thing, because I did. But, it wasn’t so good that I forgot I had a smartphone, which proved more effective at commanding my attention.

There are some mild to moderately amusing moments. Nevertheless, even with Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Richard E. Grant, Will Poulter and Tea Leoni among the key cast, during and by the end, I realised that I barely engaged emotionally with what was happening.

There are some moments of inadequate writing. And sadly, some of the acting was visible to me, maybe partly because it’s all so fantastical.

I say all the above to say that Death of a Unicorn is not great. As such, watch it only if you absolutely must.

WEDNESDAY – SEASON 2: New Teaser Trailer From Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joy Sunday…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Wednesday Season 2 (2025).

It’s time to get back into following Wednesday Addams’s journey during her student years.

Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Wednesday – Season 2 stars, to name just a few, Jenna Ortega, Fred Armisen, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Joy Sunday.

This is a great trailer. For it looks fun, intriguing and visually rich. I’ll absolutely be watching. I must also admit that I wouldn’t say no to adding Wednesday’s lovely coat to my wardrobe, in more than one colour, and for more than one season, of course.

Bring on the fun, I say.

Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Christina Ricci, Isaac Ordonez, Gwendoline Christie, Steve Buscemi, Riki Lindhome and Iman Marson also star.

Wednesday – Season 2 Release Dates: Part 1 – August 6th; Part 2 – September 3rd, 2025.

DEATH OF A UNICORN (2025): New Trailer Starring Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Téa Leoni…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Death of a Unicorn (2025).

From writer/director Alex Scharfman, Death of a Unicorn is a new comedy/horror film starring Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter and Téa Leoni.

The madness begins when father/daughter pair, Riley and Elliot, while en route to a billionaire’s wilderness retreat, accidentally hit a unicorn with their car and take it with them.

The wonderful cast, unexpected premise, and promising dialogue are why I’m in. Especially since it feels like the kind of silly I’m into. Well, generally, ideally, minus the horror.

I say, bring on the giggles and rich-person shenanigans.

Are you also in the mood for such a thing?

Sunita Mani, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Carrigan, Nick Wittman, Christine Grace Szarko, Jessica Hynes, Steve Park and Narantsogt Tsogtsaikhan also star.

Death of a Unicorn Release Dates: 2025 (US)…

BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE (2024): New Trailer Starring Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Justin Theroux, Winona Ryder, Willem Dafoe…

Starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe, the latest trailer for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice looks quite fun.

I wonder, what occurred to you as this trailer played?

For me, the order of thoughts that went through my head include… Astrid feels strongly like a Wednesday Addams adjacent character. The guy who says ‘Is your mom Lydia Deetz?’ actually looks like Miss Deetz. The special effects, the makeup, the look ‘n’ feel and the humour are why I’ll have to watch this one.

Lastly, isn’t the above image of Monica Bellucci just super?

Catherine O’Hara, Burn Gorman, Gianni Calchetti, James Fisher, Tim Kavanagh, Juliana Yazbeck, Filipe Cates, Travis Campbell, Leah Perkins and Christopher C. James also star.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Release Dates: September 6th, 2024 (US & UK)…
