GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON’T DIE (2025): New Trailer Starring Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Juno Temple, Zazie Beetz…

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is the latest action/sci-fi/adventure from director Gore Verbinski.

Starring Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Zazie Beetz and Michael Peña, Rockwell plays an unhoused-looking man from the future. One who’s on a mission to recruit people to help him extinguish the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence.

I love the title of this one. And if this trailer is anything to go by, we have plenty of laughter, great pacing and Rockwell magic in store.

Also, given what’s shown between 1:27 and 1:31 in this trailer, there might be some scares, too. I’m just glad that horror isn’t listed as a sub-category.

May this please be a well-executed film about the dangers of AI. What do you think of our chances?

Haley Lu Richardson, Stevel Marc, Tom Taylor, Tanya van Graan, Cassiel Eatock-Winnik, Georgia Goodman, Asim Chaudhry and Dino Fetscher also star.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die Release Dates: February 13th, 2026…

ARGYLLE (2024): The Things I Liked…

Argylle (2024), Henry Cavill, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, Apple TV+

Directed by Matthew Vaughn of Kingsman – The Secret Service (2014), Argylle, an action/adventure/comedy about a reclusive novelist whose espionage stories mirror real-world events stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Henri Cavill and more.

Based on the trailer and Sam Rockwell’s reputation, I’m unsurprised to confirm that I enjoyed his character Aidan the most. Especially when he’s first introduced to the audience during his ‘long hair phase’. I also appreciated the well-choreographed, colourful and fun fight sequence towards the end.

As for the not-so-great things, there are a couple of instances where the less-than-stellar special effects proved distracting. The first is during the motorbike chase sequence in Greece. The second is in the skating sequence towards the end, a scene that first registered as fun and impressive but also started to read as quite ridiculous as it continued. A couple of continuity errors certainly didn’t help.

My main issue with Argylle is that even though it features some good characters, great story elements, choreography and dialogue, there’s so much going on, including twists and turns, that all proved a tad too exhausting. As such, Argylle is one to watch only if you’re particularly curious.

JOJO RABBIT (2019): The Things I Liked…

JoJo Rabbit (2019), Scarlett Johansson, Fox Searchlight
JoJo Rabbit (2019), Scarlett Johansson, Fox Searchlight

Jojo Rabbit, a comedy/drama about a young boy in Hitler’s army who finds out that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home, is a film I found more and more impressive as it played.

Director and co-writer Taika Waititi did a great job of bringing humour to one of history’s darkest times. Jojo Rabbit is as funny and smart as others have been saying. I appreciate the way it reminds us of just how easily a young mind can be shaped, while also showing us that young minds are smart enough to figure things out for themselves, given the right circumstances.

JoJo Rabbit (2019), Roman Griffin Davis, Fox Searchlight

I watched Waititi’s movie mainly because of the very intriguing and clever premise, the comedy categorisation, the fact that everyone told me to and the brilliant cast; a talent list that includes Scarlett Johansson, Waititi himself and Sam Rockwell, to name just a few.

Besides the cleverness and notable performances, the colours and beautiful imagery will stay with me when I think of Jojo Rabbit. As will the super cute and talented young actors, Roman Griffin Davis and Archie Yates. There’s also the way Jojo Rabbit reminds me of another brilliant World War 2 drama/comedy. Namely, Roberto Benigni’s Life Is Beautiful (1997).

Watch Jojo Rabbit because it’s good – and see exactly why Waititi deserved the win for 2020’s Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar.

Anna Kendrick, Sam Rockwell, Justin Timberlake and Jamie Dornan are the stars of new animated adventure/comedy, Trolls World Tour.

From directors Walt Dohrn and David P. Smith, Trolls World Tour is a sequel to 2016’s Trolls, where the happiest Troll ever born and her much less happy sidekick set off on a journey to rescue their friends after their village is invaded. This time, they discover other Troll tribes out there besides their own.

Trolls were never my go-to toys, but I am a sucker for colourful visuals. And for that reason, this movie has me intrigued.

Rachel Bloom, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Kenan Thompson, Charlyne Yi, Anthony Ramos, Flula Borg, Mary J. Blige, Ester Dean, Karan Soni and Kelly Clarkson also star.

Trolls World Tour Release Dates: April 6th, 2020 (UK); April 10th, 2020 (US)…

RICHARD JEWELL (2019): New Trailer From Clint Eastwood, Starring Jon Hamm, Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, Kathy Bates, Paul Walter Hauser…

Richard Jewell (2019), Olivia Wilde, Warner Bros. Pictures

Clint Eastwood’s latest drama, Richard Jewell, tells the true story of Jewell, an American security guard who heroically saved thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympic Games, in Atlanta, USA.

Starring Paul Walter Hauser, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates, Eastwood’s film is about the unjust vilification of Jewell by journalists and the press, who falsely reported that he was a terrorist.

Firstly, what a wonderfully edited trailer. Second, I remember enjoying Hauser’s work in I Tonya (2017) and it looks like he’s truly great in this far more dramatic role. Now I can’t wait to find out how things turned out for Jewell.

One more thing: YEEAAH! Another Eastwood movie! Just had to let that out.

Nina Arianda, Ian Gomez, Deja Dee, Randy Havens, Wayne Duvall, Beth Keener, Mike Pniewski and Mitchell Hoog also star.

Richard Jewell Release Dates: December 13th, 2019 (US)…
