Read my spoiler-free movie review of Beverly Hills Cop – Axel F (2024).
Something unexpected is coming, especially for fans of Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley in the Beverly hills Cop movies of the 80s and early 90s. Namely, Beverly Hills Cop (1984) Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994).
Directed by Mark Molloy, Beverly Hills Cop – Axel F has Murphy’s detective character Axel Foley drawn back to the opulent neibhourhoods of Beverly Hills, to investigate the untimely demise of a long-time confidant.
There are still scenes from the early Beverly Hils Cop movies that I fondly think of from time to time. Unsurprisingly, nostalgia is a big part of why I have to see this. That, along with Murphy’s highly memorable standup comedy work, i.e. Raw.
I don’t recall seeing Kevin Bacon in the earlier Beverly Hills Cop movies, but I do like the idea of him playing a villain type.
Here’s to hoping that Beverly Hills Cop – Axel F will be so fun and engaging that we won’t miss the magic of the first three films. Please, pleae, please, movie Gods!
Have you seen the first Beverly Hills Cop movie, and will you be watching this one?

Happy Film Loving

I’m going to rewatch at least the first movie, the one directed by Tony Scott. I love the comedy in it.
Wise choice! It’s the most highly rated after all. Though, chances are, you’ll get hooked and have to watch the second and third movies in preparation for this new one. 🤓
It’s that Murphy magic that held the movie together, for sure. Let’s hope that this new instalment has plenty more.
I completely forgot that you mentioned the 4th movie in your post. 🤓
And I can’t believe that was a YEAR ago! 😂
I know. Hello 2024, nearly. 😁🥳
I’m all in on this one. Not always a fan of new chapters to old franchises but this looks like one worthy of a revisit.
It’s going to be fun to see the unexpected places and modern scenarios from which the humour will surface. Fingers crossed for an all-round great result.
Around the same time, I also reviewed a failed pilot of a TV show from 10 years ago!

Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m surprised that the television pilot didn’t get picked up. filling Murphy’s shoes when it comes to charisma is a very tall order indeed.
I think it would work if they would have taken the new Frasier series approach. But Murphy was not going to do more than a quick appearance.
I haven’t watched any of the New Frasier but I’m glad it seems to be working out.
If you liked the original you should! It’s like wearing old slippers.
That’s a great endorsement. I’ll have to give it a chance soon. 👍
Anyway I’m all in, especially based on the trailer!
Excellent! I just had a flash-forward of hitting play on Netflix and waiting for the fun to start. Pure happiness! 😁
I’m excited to see his two (if I recall correctly) seemingly less smart sidekicks in action as well.
I could not believe they brought so many original actors back!
Yes, and it’s great to see that so many are still alive. 🙏
sounds fun, I’m in!
Totally going to watch, because, nostalgia!
Amen! 😊🥳
It seemed like such a long time ago when I watched the first “Beverly Hills Cop” and heard Axel Foley’s laugh. I guess they thought it would be nice to have these three actors reunite.
Agreed on all counts. 🥳
I’m excited and hopeful that it turns out well. 🤞🤞
