Se7en, the David Fincher-directed psychological thriller about two homicide detectives on a desperate hunt for a serial killer, is a film I first watched at least ten years ago.
Seeing it again while knowing the ending doesn’t detract from the experience; rather, it adds to it. There’s already a sense of dread as you watch Se7en, due to the dark premise alone. However, already knowing how the ending will affect the characters involved makes for an even more impactful and memorable event. A brilliantly executed one at that.
Starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kevin Spacey, the performances, makeup, and production design in Se7en are notable. In fact, compared to all the other serial killer movies I’ve seen, for me, Fincher’s film remains the benchmark.
If you haven’t already, watch Se7en because it’s good, and don’t be surprised if it makes other serial killer films you may have liked before seem less impressive in comparison.
Happy Film Loving,

It’s a great cult and a lot of movies took inspiration by it without reaching the quality of it. Se7en is really an awesome movie.
Agreed! I could watch it again right now, to be honest, but I have other things on my to-do list.🤓
Excellent film!
Amen, Amen! 🤓🥂
Great film and it freaked me out!
It does that for sure.
Whoa…you haven’t sampled Stranger Things because of your adversion to “scary” but you watched THIS? I echo Beth’s thought here – great film…and it freaked me out. I mean like…I’ve never forgotten that darkness. Dripping with dread to be sure!
😁! Well, does Stranger Things have a ‘Brad Pitt type’ to ‘hold my hand’ through the scary bits, and a soothing voice, such as that of Morgan Freeman, to calm me down when things get too much? Unlikely! 😁
On a serious note, Se7en is more of a psychological thriller than a horror. Somehow, that translates into a much-reduced chance of nightmares for me.
And that is an interesting aspect to mystery-thriller-horror genres…one person’s fright is another person’s delight!
Such truth you speak! 🤓🥂
I haven’t seen it, and I’m still not sure I want to, hahaha. But I’m glad you enjoyed it again. Even when I watch a film I’ve seen before, I still find myself hoping that this time it will turn out for the best. Hahaha.
I hear you. However, hopefully, you can be comforted by the knowledge that Se7en isn’t a horror film, it’s a psychological thriller, which means the focus is on suspense and a sense of dread, as opposed to making you afraid/terrified. If that doesn’t work. How about the idea that Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman will keep you safe? 😁
Ah, that is a comforting thought!! 😀 ❤
I love this movie! It’s one of my favorite detective thrillers. Maybe it’s time to rewatch it.
Definitely rewatch it! Typing my reply to you makes me want to start rewatching it again right now. But alas, I have work to do. ☺️🤓
I hate violence but love this!
It’s just too cleverly done not to like. 🤓
I remember this being good, love the cast!
Absolutely. They are all super reliable performers. 🤓🥂
“What’s in the Box!😩”🥂
One must never look in the box if your partner is telling you you shouldn’t. 🤓
