Ali G – Who Iz I? is a new comedy focused on the character that put writer/director/actor Sacha Baron Cohen on the map decades ago.
Cohen plays Ali G, a hip-hop journalist making a documentary with real people over the course of a year. We follow Ali G as he takes classes, walks the streets, and appears on shows, often with his pregnant girlfriend.
Additional key cast includes Morgana Robinson and Stewart Rodeheaver.
We are still very much on the nostalgia train, where new releases are concerned.
I hope this turns out great because I remember how good and of-the-time Cohen’s Ali G character was. However, I fear that the times have moved on, making this less of a fresh concept. I’d of course, love to be very wrong.

I think I was a perfect age when original series came out. I agree it feels a bit of rehash, but at the same time I like his signature humor now updated for the new generation. Also the way the world turned out since COVID it’s hard to compete with the real life craziness. Looks like Ali G excepted the challenge. 😁
