Directed by Shawn Levy, Ryan Renolds’s new action/comedy Free Guy has a new trailer.
Also starring Jodie Comer, Taika Waititi, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Joe Keery Free Guy has Reynolds an NPC (Non Player Character) inside a brutal, open world video game.
Interesting. I think I like the original trailer released back in December 2019 more than I do this one. Not that this is a bad trailer. However, this particular edit makes the ‘good guy’ aspect of Reynolds’s character feel especially contrived.
Perhaps I’m having trouble divorcing Reynolds from his Deadpool (2016) character ,and can’t fully buy him as his Guy character. It could also be that all my ‘good guy’ interest level has been assigned completely to Ted Lasso (2020). Maybe.
Or, maybe I’m completely wrong and end up loving this movie come its December 2020 release date. Maybe indeed.

The Movie My Life 
I like Ryan’s screen characters best when he’s being badass. He seems to be something else entirely here. We’ll see.
‘We’ll see’ is right for me. However, I don’t much play video games so quite a bit is likely lost on me.
Reynolds should teach classes on marketing. I loved his trailer for a trailer 🙂

The Deadpool trailers were very special indeed. Fingers crossed that when this comes out it’s also great.
I don’t play video games either, but I like Ryan in just about anything he’s in so I’ll give this a try. He was great in The Hitman’s Body Guard and Hobbs and Shaw. He’s done so many other things so this might be pretty good.
Yes, try we certainly must! I also enjoyed The Hitman’s Body Guard. A sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021) should also be fun.
