Technically, precisely 67 days have passed. It’s just that I tend to embellish ever so slightly by saying 200 years for almost all periods of time that feel ridiculously long.
The reason for my absence from blogging isn’t as simple as being burnt out. I’m also unlikely to ever become tired of movies. However, life did become a tad more hectic than usual. So, I took the necessary 200 years to simplify my daily routine.
It would be great to say that I took the time to travel abroad and explore during half of the 67 days. Except, that I’m one of those people who’ll need more time before I can feel comfortable being on a plane/away from home again. One of these days I might even do some domestic travelling! Until then, quality time with friends and family is vacation enough for me, especially when I get to annoy my nearest and dearest to no end. They love it!
I spent some of my time away from blogging listening to podcasts. Naturally, I listened to – and continue to listen to a few that are linked to show business. For example, SmartLess, a funny, fun podcast hosted by filmmakers Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett; three friends who have enviable chemistry and lots of witty banter, and that’s before I mention their many great guests. Interviewees such as Ryan Reynolds, LeBron James, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Downey Jr., to name just a few.

A handful of random things I’ve learned since becoming a regular listener of podcasts include, but are not at all limited to, how much many of my Americans brothers and sisters apparently LOVE Target as a place with isles to enjoy walking down, particularly late at night. The second thing listening to podcasts made me realise is that podcasting is harder than it looks, because the art of great conversation is no easy thing.
The third and perhaps, most important thing that’s happened is I’ve reached a controversial conclusion. Specifically, that big fans of burger restaurants In-N-Out and Five Guys are as deluded as each other. Yes! This is fighting talk, and I’m certainly no fighter. Still, I had to say it. Even more so because I’ve eaten at both places, and I’m convinced that the patrons of each have dead taste buds, in different areas of the mouth. With that said, could the 200 years away made me braver? Or something else? 😁
Whatever the answer, I say all the above to say that I’m back, dear movie lovers. And I look forward to catching up with your blogs to see what I’ve missed. Fingers crossed that you’ll enjoy the movie content along with the occasional non-movie specific topics I cover.
Which are some of your favourite podcasts? They don’t have to be about movies. Though, it helps if they’re funny.

200 years??? 😁 If only the wait had been that short! Welcome back.
That might just be the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard! Thank you! It’s great to be back. 😁❤️
yay you’re back! Glad to see you’re back. It’s good that you did take some time for yourself. I just started getting into podcasts as well. So far mine have been food related. I’ve mostly been enjoying ‘Always Hungry’ with Bobby Flay and his daughter Sophie Flay.I have heard of Smartless and kept saying I might check it some time. so now I may have to. On a side note, I confess I am a Target girl. But do a wander down the isles late at night? No, I’d rather be home in my comfy pjs, lol. Can’t wait to see what movies you have in store for of later.
Thanks for sharing ‘Always Hungry,’ it sounds like my kind of thing too. I also like that it’s a father/daughter dynamic. I too wouldn’t be in Target late at night either. I think the people who go then might be half expecting to see something strange happen. 🤓 I’d rather see strange things in broad daylight!
Oh I’d rather see strange things in daylight too. I’d be running to my car if it was at night.😂 I did listen to an episode of smartness. I liked it. Thank you for sharing that as well. I think I will be listening to more of it. If you do listen to Always Hungry…. It will make you hungry for sure. 😂
😁😂 Thank goodness for the safety of our cars! I see myself listening to Always Hungry while eating. Or, maybe just after eating so I don’t suffer too much with the cravings.
Lol yes you should.
Nice to see you back, Gia! You were missed! I really don’t make time to listen to podcasts, but I want to check out Smartless!
Thanks, Tiffany! 🤓 I hope you do enjoy Smatless when you get a chance. There are so many podcasts out there that I’m sure there’ll be at least one that’s perfect for you.
I haven’t really got into the podcast thing but it’s lovely to have you back!
Thanks, Jane. 🤓 People get into listening to podcasts at different times. One day the time will be right, and you’ll be glad.
may be, my husband has a podcast and I don’t even listen to that!
I’m sure your husband forgives you! 😁Also, the podcasts we choose to listen to are a very particular thing. We wouldn’t choose to listen to someone in front of us who was speaking on a topic that’s of next to zero interest to us. Therefore, people/topics generally have to be intriguing. And if not, we should be forgiven for moving swiftly along.
Gia, welcome back! You’ve been missed! That podcast with Bateman and Arnett sounds like one worth tuning into. I’m not on the podcast bandwagon just yet as it takes up time that I’d need to schedule for (which I may yet do.) A couple I have listened to and enjoyed very much is Tommy Morello’s Maximum Firepower, which is an insider’s view of music, Robert Plant’s podcast, Digging Deep, and LeVar Burton Reads (short stories.) I also have a great love for any NPR podcasts which I listen to on the radio at NPR radio when out and about.
Thanks so Much msjadeli! It feels great o be back, and thank you for sharing your podcast favourites. I’ve added a couple to my Spotify list already.
One of the best things about podcasts, especially the funny conversational ones like Smartless is that I can listen to them while doing other things, such as going on long so walks or grocery shopping. Of course, this means that I’ll often look mad for randomly bursting into laughter all by myslef. But it’s worth it! 😁
You’re very welcome. I like the idea of your bursting into laughter on a walk or while shopping 🙂
It’s definitely better to look mad, than actually be mad. 🤓
p.s. No thanks on Target and wasn’t at all impressed with Five Guys either. Haven’t tried the other place.
😁😂 I can’t balme you about target, especially late at night! What I do prefer is being in groceries stores early in the morning when they’re not yet busy.
The more people I speak to about my opinion of Five Guys and In-N-Out, the more I realise that boysand men are far more enthusiastic about restaurants than the ladies. It must be our obviously super-sophisticated taste buds! 🤓
Good to see you back!🙂
Thank you. 🤓
It’s good to have you back after 200 years.
Thank you! 😁 Happy to be back.
Everyone needs a break sometimes. Welcome back. I haven’t gotten into podcasting yet. Need to give it more of a go but there’s only so many hours in a day. Been too busy with other things.
Thanks JoAnn. 🤗 I can’t really blame you about podcasting. It took me taking an extended period of time off to finally dive in. I’m sure you will if/when it makes sense. 🤓
