The latest from Francis Ford Coppola is a crime/drama film titled Megalopolis.
Starring Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Chloe Fineman, Shia LaBeouf, and Giancarlo Esposito; we’re in for a fable about an architect (Driver) who wants to rebuild New York City as a utopia, following a devastating disaster.
This one I’m interested in because it’s Coppola, director of the highly rated The Godfather (1972). Nevertheless, based on this trailer, there’s plenty going on. Fingers crossed that it comes together well and becomes another Coppola epic.
The title is a peculiar word, isn’t it? That precise thought had me saying Megalopolis three times fast, assuming it would be quite the tongue twister. Turns out Megalopolis is actually very easy to say, for me at least. As such, I’m likely just ignorant of the type of words and letter arrangements that make for the toughest of tongue twisters
How do you feel about this trailer and our hopeful protagonist’s lofty goals? Additionally, are you also able to easily say Megalopolis three times fast?
Nathalie Emmanuel, James Remar, Talia Shire, D.B. Sweeney, Kathryn Hunter, Balthazar Getty, Sonia Ammar, Jon Voight, Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Schwartzman, Charlene Amoia and Grace VanderWaal also star.
Megalopolis Release Dates: September 27th, 2024 (US & UK)…
Happy Film Loving,

Very much interested in seeing this one. Thanks for the heads up on the trailer!
My pleasure! 🤓
I sure hope that this is the kind of film that receives a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival this year, where it’s due to be seen first.🤞🤞
I’m glad that Coppola is still around, I wasn’t sure. Two hours and thirteen minutes is the current run time. But will that be enough to tell the whole story?
I’m sure you’re saying this movie might be better off as a mini-series, especially because of all that’s happening in this trailer, right? I’m certain you’re not wishing that movies were longer. Please put me out of my misery and say my initial assumption is correct. 😳😁
Great cast and yes I could manage to say Megalopolis 3 x fast!!!
Well done, you! 😁 👏
Turns out I can say it twelve times before tripping up. And I only trip up because I need to take a breath. Megalopolis, the worst would-be tongue twister ever!
I can’t wait to see this
Glad you like the look of it. May we all be delighted post-viewing. 🙏🥂
Fingers crossed. I don’t know what I’m expecting, but I hope Coppola pulls it off.
P.S. I can say it three times fast.
To that, I say Amen! And to your second point, it’s official, Megalopolis is not in any way a tongue twister. Thank you.
…Well, except in the way that it looks as though it might be. 🤓
Wow, I feel like the trailer left a lot to our imagination, but I’m still intrigued! Great cast!
Yes, indeed. We’ll have to see how this turns out. I’m hoping it will leave the audience with plenty to think about.
Judging by Coppola’s age, this might be his last movie, so of course I’m interested.
This made me think of Eastwood and I found out he just wrapped on supposedly his final movie. The new age of Hollywood directors from 70s (Coppola, Lucas, Spielberg, Scott), who are keeping busy long into their 70s, 80s, and 90s is slowly reaching its end. What a run they gave us!
I agree. I’m certainly thankful for plenty of the films on their their filmographies. Something tells me that Eastwood’s ‘last film’ may still not be his last. We must never underestimate him, I feel. 🤓
Yes, we shall see. Miyazaki officially retired at least 3 times. So you never know. But they both deserve some rest now in the winter of their lives.
Indeed! We’re not even going to mention how many retirements Daniel Day Lewis has had. 👀😁
Looks like it’s gonna be love it or hate it (for some both!) https://letterboxd.com/journal/megalopolis-francis-ford-coppola-cannes/
Thank you for bringing the word ‘Megaflopolis’ to my attention. It’s a smart play on words that had me laugh out loud. 😄 I also had to stop reading the review there, in case I decide to watch it upon release so I can make up my own mind.
Doesn’t really reveal much. The movie is not easy to summarize. 😆
I’m not surprised it’s hard to summarise, considering the amount that’s happening in the trailer. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up liking it the way I enjoyed Warcraft (2016|) even though many did not. 🤓
