Set in the farmlands of California’s Salinas Valley, the latest adaptation of John Steinbeck’s literary classic East of Eden has a good-looking new trailer.
Directed by Garth Davis and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, the seven-part miniseries stars Florence Pugh, Mike Faist, Christopher Abbott and Ciarán Hinds, and tells the story of two families destined to reenact the fateful story of Cain and Abel.
Go, Florence, go!
This trailer and the promise of the finished series have me feeling like an audience member at a live theatre production starring Pugh. I’m excited that she seems to be the main focus of the story.
Also, it’s going to be great to hear Steinbeck’s classic words so perfectly spoken by this wonderful cast.
Martha Plimpton, Brad McMurray, Tandi Wright, Costa D’Angelo, Joseph Zada, Tracy Letts, Hoon Lee, Benedict Wall, Asher Whitehead, Vaughan Reilly, Gus Turner, Robert Morgan and Joe Anders also star.

In 1981, ABC aired a three part series based on this John Steinbeck novel starring Jane Seymour. This was my intro to the book, and that series was done very well. It made an impression on me to this day. From the trailer here, it looks like an absolute winner, and considering the source material it should be. An epic story. Looking forward to it, G.
Steinbeck’s story is a classic for a reason. So I feel I’ll enjoy the dialogue too.
