BRIDGERTON SEASON TWO (2022): The Things I Liked…

Bridgerton Season Two, the season that focuses on the love life of the eldest of the Bridgerton offspring (Anthony Bridgerton), is, so far, my favourite of all the seasons. The posting of this review is super late. But, better late than never, so I tell myself.

One thing I didn’t need my review notes from two years ago to remind me of is the fact that I enjoyed all the dialogue. Especially every time Viscount Anthony Bridgerton spoke. The focus of this season is his entry into the marriage market, after all. I particularly appreciated that the story took us back to his earlier years, to give the audience a more comprehensive understanding of the young man and his specific idiosyncrasies – something akin to what Casino Royale (2006) did for James Bond.

Watching Anthony’s emotional growth was a fun and satisfying experience, even though one might say that it took a little too long for him to reach his destination. Luckily, like all the seasons so far, this season is romantic. I just happen to like it most because of the aforementioned dialogue, the addition of the interesting Sharma sisters and the Viscount being my favourite character.

Nevertheless, I can’t deny that all the back and forth with the ‘will they, won’t they’ situation with Anthony and his love interest did test my patience, which I don’t have much of, to begin with. Still, I was happy by the end. Especially, after a second viewing a year or so later. And even more so when I re-watched it to ‘cleanse my palette’ because I didn’t fully love Bridgerton Season Three.

Last but not least, I must highlight the first four minutes of episode three of this season, because it’s captured perfectly. I hope you enjoyed Bridgerton Season Two if you’ve already seen it. I may watch it just once more this week. Maybe.

BRIDGERTON – SEASON TWO (2022): Episode One, World Premiere…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Bridgerton Season Two (2022)

At the Bridgerton Season two World Premiere in London’s Tate Modern this week, there were many highlights to take in. Not least of all, the Bridgerton-inspired fashion show, venue decorations, and of course, interviews with key cast and creators.

The first season focused on the fourth Bridgerton child, Daphne Bridgerton, and her love story with the Duke of Hastings. The main focus of season two is the eldest Bridgerton child, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Specifically his entrance into the marriage market, and the fun dynamic between the Viscount and the older Sharma sister, Kate (Simone Ashley).

Having seen episode one of season two, I’m almost certain that the undeniable chemistry and fun dialogue between Anthony and Kate will be the main highlight.

No doubt the costumes, music, romance and humour will hold my attention. But, Anthony and Kate’s exchanges did take me back to Casino Royale (2006), specifically James Bond and Vesper Lynd’s conversation on the Eurostar.

Let’s hope that the episodes that follow are only more and more engaging, come Friday, March 25th, 2022.

Are you looking forward to this promising new season? I know I’m ready to be pleasantly surprised.
