The Price We Pay (2015), Matt Brittin (a Google VP)
Directed by Award winning documentary film maker, Harold Crooks, the subject matter of The Price We Pay is big-business tax avoidance.
Covering both the history and present day reality, Google and Starbucks are just two of the corporations featured in harbouring profits in offshore havens.
I’m looking forward to two things. First, learning more about the real effects of the practice, and second, watching the legal and financial representatives of large corporations feel the heat when their apparently immoral practices are brought to question. Who’s with me?
Starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson and several other known comic actors, I found The Internship to be good fun of the light-hearted kind.
Directed by Shawn Levy; this buddy comedy, besides making us laugh, it highlights the importance of effective team work and good people skills. The Internship speaks to underdogs and anyone who has ever had to start over.
If you’re still not yet sure you’ll see it, how about the fact that the setting is Google’s US Headquarters? Also, the character played by Josh Gad is quite the pleasant surprise, however unsettling his facial hair may be.
