RUSH HOUR 2 (2001) A Favourite Comedy Film & Excellent Karaoke Scene

Whilst in the mood for a good comedy this week, I opted for a buddy cop classic. Starring Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan and directed by Brett Ratner, Rush Hour 2 (2001) is one of my absolute favourites.

The first instalment, Rush Hour (1998) is of course great, but I love Rush Hour 2 more. Not just for the reason that it has the following clip which contains the only instance of Karaoke I have ever been able to enjoy, but because it really is good. Particularly as this time, unlike in the first movie, Jackie Chan’s Lee character cracks a few jokes of his own.

The reason why the karaoke scene above works so well – besides Tucker’s comedic excellence is the fact that the guy ‘singing’ beforehand seems to believe that he’s actually doing a great job; when clearly that couldn’t be more incorrect. Featuring a Michael Jackson classic ‘Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’ certainly doesn’t hurt the scene either.

If you haven’t already and or the above clip has convinced you, watch Rush Hour 2 because it’s funny. But be sure to remember that it’s best to start with 1998’s Rush Hour first.

Roselyn Sanchez and Ziyi Zhang are also among the key cast.

Happy Film Loving

  1. ‘Who died!?’
    ‘You!’
    ‘Detective Yu!?’
    ‘No! YOU!’

I preferred the first film but this one was pretty good as well and don’t know why but the little fist pump type of thing the guy singing first starts doing always has me in stitches.

    1. Thanks for the lines 😀 Most people do prefer the first movie.
Similarly, The Godfather Part 2 is said by many to be better than Part 1 but I actually prefer the original. Not sure how controversial that is… 🙂
