In Gerald’s Game, Gerald and Jessie are a middle aged couple trying to spice up their marriage in their remote lake house. Unfortunately for them, things really don’t go according to plan. Directed by Mike Flanagan and based on the novel by Stephen King, Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood and Henry Thomas star…
This is probably just the kind of thing that my over-active imagination would conjure up and help me foresee, before I’d even consider allowing myself to be handcuffed, given the choice. For a moment I thought the characters were actually having an affair. How much more anxiety ridden Jessie would be if that were the case.
I have to see this to find out how she gets out, especially assuming that she does it without anyone’s help.
Gerald’s Game Release Dates: September 29th, 2017 (US)…

Stephen King is one sick mo…… This looks really tense and engaging. Possibly somewhat similar to a film I saw about a year ago whose name escapes me at the moment about a woman trapped in an overturned car after a rapist attacks her and leaves her to die. That one had weaknesses that spoiled it a bit for me. Interested to see if this one works better.
King is blessed with a brilliant imagination. I’m actually curious about how how started writing such dark stories, the catalyst, his inspiration, etc.
I don’t know the film you’re referencing but knowing that it had weaknesses that spoiled the experience does put me off.
His alcoholism surely had something to do with it
Something… but I imagine not too much.
Don’t underestimate the power of addiction and of alcohol in particular to influence the creative process
Good point. I don’t drink so I wouldn’t personally know. 😊
Well, I’m not guessing really 😉 Stephen King himself has been quite open about his alcoholism and the resultant effects on his family and how these affected his writing
Now THAT is a movie with some promise. What a fascinating plot!! I got anxiety and goosebumps just watching. I hope she gets out too.
Truth! 😀 Also, I only really remember seeing Carla Gugino in San Andreas (2015) with Dwayne Johnson. Therefore I’m looking to watching what she does in a starring role.
