The Party is a new drama / comedy that starts as a celebration and ends with blood on the floor. The film’s very talented cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Timothy Spall, Emily Mortimer, Cillian Murphy, Patricia Clarkson…

Watching this rather good trailer reminded me so much of how much I love this kind of film. The kind where adults are stuck in a relatively confined space and they’re forced to resolve any issues they may have with each other, usually resulting in brilliant comic moments. In case my description doesn’t paint a clear enough picture, watch Roman Polanski’s Carnage (2011), a film with great dialogue and a truly brilliant cast, not unlike this one.

Written and directed by Sally Potter; Bruno Ganz also stars.

The Party Release Dates: October 13th, 2017 (UK)…

Happy Film Loving

  1. Being confined with others reminds me of No Exit, one of the only plays I read in high school. I have never forgotten it. I agree these settings make for great dramas

  2. Just wow! My favourite actors and in a confined space? This film is just made for me! hehe The only issue I have is comedy, as previously I adored only confined space dramas and thrillers and did not particularly like “Carnage”.

    1. I just fell off my chair with shock at the news that you didn’t like Carnage. 😳😱😄😄 This is a very well edited trailer. Id see this tomorrow (because today I’m now too tired) if I could.
I’m curious about what you disliked about it.

      1. I haven’t seen the play but I’m not surprised to learn that the play was better. After recovering from my initial shock of learning that you didn’t much like Carnage. I actually watched it again today. It helps that the film is only approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes long. I’ll put down my thoughts and then I’ll definitely check out your post.
