Writer/director James Grey’s latest is Paper Tiger, a new crime/drama/thriller starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller.

Teller and Driver are brothers whose bond is tested when they’re caught up in a dangerous Russian mafia scheme while pursuing the American Dream.

Gritty feels like the right word for this one. Films like The Godfather (1972–1990) trilogy and The Drop (2014) came to mind as this trailer played.

I’m into the performances more than witnessing the trauma-inducing shenanigans the characters will inevitably endure.

I certainly have no idea how much screen time they’ll share, but it’s great to see Johansson and Driver in a film together again. Their first collaboration, of course, was the rather impressive Marriage Story (2020).
