The trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 didn’t fill me with as much confidence about the movie as the trailer for the first Wonder Woman film in 2017. Having now seen both films, unsurprisingly, the first one is better.
Key highlights of director Pattie Jenkins’s sequel include most of the time Gal Gadot is on screen, simply because the lady is quite magnetic. Secondly, there’s the final fight sequence between Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah. There’s also the cleverly executed moment towards the end when Wonder Woman addresses the people.
If you haven’t watched the movie yet but plan to, be sure to wait for what happens after the end credits start to roll; something tells me it may just lift your spirits. Last but in no way least, we have the musical score by Hans Zimmer. The only unfortunate thing about it is that the worst scenes had me thinking of Zimmer’s talents as wasted on this project.
I had hopes of loving Wonder Woman 1984. The problem is I kept noticing more and more things that increased my level of disappointment. Additional examples include the dreamstone element of the story which came across as silly and somewhat nonsensical. I’m also not a fan of a fair amount of the aerial work, including when Wonder Woman is ‘flying’.
Furthermore, why, oh, why wasn’t the father/son reunion dialogue more tightly edited? It was so unnecessarily long-winded. There’s also the fact that I still remain unsure about how Kristoffer Polaha’s character came to be Steve (Chris Pine). And I’m mad that this movie/story did not make Pedro Pascal look great in the villain role. As for Wiig, I liked her best once she went to the dark side. I still think that the Cheetah look is too much like Cats (2019). I haven’t seen Cats but I hear that such a comparison is not a compliment.
What good or bad things stood out most for you in Wonder Woman 1984? I really could go on about the things wrong with this movie but I have other tasks to complete today. Watch Wonder Woman 1984 if you’re curious enough.

The Movie My Life 
I was disappointed in WW84 also. WW has always been my favorite hero ever since I was a kid and grew up watching Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman. I even loved the comics. I absolutely loved the first WW movie so I was so excited and counted down until WW 84 came out. It wasn’t horrible by any means, but it was lacking. I loved the beginning when we got to see her as a kid again. That whole sequence was fun and amazing. My main thing was everyone else got their wish, so why couldn’t Steve just come back when Diana wished for him? He had to take over a body? And where did the guy’s soul or whatever go when he was taken over?
Also the kid who played Max Lord’s son I find wasn’t a great choice. He just did not fit the part. I’m not sure if it was his first role, but he needs more practice.
As far as WW flying I loved it. She has been able to fly in the comics for a long time so it was nice to see her finally getting to. However, why now and it doesn’t make sense really because she couldn’t fly on Justice League which takes place after this.
I did like the scene where she had to let Steve go and she couldn’t look back… she just kept running. You could see how much it hurt her to lose him again but she knew he was right and they had to part. Yes, I cried lol.
I’m really hoping WW3 will be better.
Sorry it was especially disappointing for you. it is sad that Steve couldn’t come back. The way I saw it, the people who were most reluctant to relinquish their wishes were the villains. The wishes were quite costly. As such, Diana/WW had to lead by example and give up her wish; as unfair as it was. The part where she ran away from Steve was heartbreaking, indeed. However, I didn’t get too emotional about it. And I think it’s probably because by that point I’d decided that I can’t take this dreamstone business too seriously since I didn’t love the story. 🤓
My guess is the taking over the body part is because Steve was already dead; whereas the other character’s wishes weren’t about dead people. But you’re right, the whole execution of the taking of another’s body wasn’t great, hence why I couldn’t take it all very seriously.
I never really thought about the theory of Steve having to come back in another body was because he was already dead….. That’s something that makes sense. Let’s just all hope that the next one will be a much better one for sure. 😀

😁 I didn’t notice the young actor’s acting too much. Yet, it doesn’t surprise me. There are very few child actors who are actually impressive. Therefore,I always make sure to highlight the good work of the ones who truly impress.
The kind of gaps in WW 84 are the sort one would expect when a movie is rushed. But considering there’s more than a year between the first and second film, we really should have had a better result. I supposed some stories just need more time.
I don’t remember crying during the movie but I can understand why you were so moved. Fingers, toes and everything crossed that we get a much better third instalment. Lastly, Did you console yourself after this movie by re-watching the first? I did and I highly recommend it! 😁
