Based on Peter Heller’s bestselling novel of the same name, post-apocalyptic sci-fi /action/adventure The Dog Stars is the latest from Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley.
Directed by Ridley Scott, and set in a world where humanity has been wiped out by a virus, survivors are confronted with new challenges, including roaming scavengers.
I like how the trailer ramps up towards the end.
How will this differ from other post-apocalyptic stories? That’s what I’m curious about. The performances will be great. I’m just not sure that I’ll hurry to see it, considering the state of world affairs in 2026, and my sensitive disposition.
Are you familiar with Heller’s novel? How much does this film adaptation appeal to you?
Guy Pearce, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, Sebastian Rokison-Woodall, and Alara-Star Khan also star.
The Dog Stars Release Dates: August 28th, 2026 (US & UK)…
Happy Film Loving,

I’m always curious to see Ridley Scott at work even if is Gladiator 2 and Napoleon were a delusion for me.
We must always allow room for some of our delusions! 😁 But seriously, great directors have earned such committed and hopeful fans. I feel the same about certain actors, too.
It certainly looks interesting. Ridley Scott hasn’t directed a non-historical film in awhile so hopefully it’s a hit for him.
Fingers, toes and everything crossed.
I really hope this isn’t prophetic. With this cast I’m sure I’ll be seeing this. Side note, Keanu Reeves okays bass in a band called Dog Star. And I think it might be a reference to Heller’s book.
You’re likely right about the Reeves reference. I’m going to visualise this as non-prophetic and hope for the best. 🙏🤞 I’m also hoping for a great result for all involved. Especially Monsieur Scott, who made the only film to ever have me speechless in the best way post-viewing. It’s Gladiator (2000), of course. 😊
Looks good, but not sure I am ready for the end of the world just yet!
Anything from the Scott bros I will watch (RIP Tony). I’m still missing a few from their joint filmography, but it looks like Ridely is following Eastwood’s footsteps by working himself to the bone and to the very end. He’s a workaholic, obviously, but also loves his craft.
