Wildwood is a new animated/adventure film starring Carey Mulligan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay and Angela Bassett.
Directed by Travis Knight, Wildwood is the story of Prue McKeel as she sets off into the forests to find her kidnapped brother.
This looks pretty good.
As a goodie-two-shoes big sister, I can’t imagine disobeying my parents’ specific request the way Prue did. Not to say that a kidnapping still couldn’t have happened, of course.
Right now, I’m getting flashbacks of my once little brother’s joy-inducing face and shenanigans, such is the emotional precision of this trailer. I’m hoping the ending will be a happy one, which isn’t necessarily obvious from the trailer.
I’m expecting a moving and, hopefully, very satisfying film.
What is Wildwood bringing to mind for you?
Charlie Day, Jake Johnson, Awkwafina, Maherhala Ali, Jemaine Clement, Tom Waits, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal and Richard E. Grant also star.
Wildwood Release Dates: October 23rd, 2026 (US & UK)…
Happy Film Loving,

What a scary thing to happen. This looks dark.
Super scary. Dark is right, but hopefully with a good ending.
It made me think of Coraline, so far my favorite Laika movie. All their productions have a similar vibe and an excellent eye for details. I admire how they managed to carve a niche for themselves and keep on the stop motion techniques although now heavily assisted by digital tools.
Caroline is one of those movies I’m aware of, but I’m not sure I’ve seen. Perhaps I’ll watch it before Wildwood.
I’m waiting for this movie for a long time. Laika is a very beautiful and artistic animated studios and they were never scared to try harder both technically and story telling. And this one seems really promising, I love the design, the atmosphere and I love how they try to tell a dark tale like they did with Coraline.
It looks like I need to make time for Caroline before I see this one. You’re right, the animation is impressive-looking. I’m looking forward to both stories.
I’ve been following this movie for years because stop motion takes time, but I wasn’t really looking forward to it until I saw the trailer. Now I can’t wait!
I’m not great at waiting, so I’m glad I didn’t know of it till now. 🤓 I also don’t recall the last time I watched a dark animated film. Oh, wait, The Willoughbys (2020). I have a feeling I’ll like this better than I did that.
The trailer reminded me of Labyrinth, loved that movie!
Labyrinth is still on my to-watch list. ☺️ I’ll try to see it before this one. Thanks for the reminder.
