Read my spoiler-free movie review of Tall Girl (2019).

New comedy Tall Girl is the story of Jodie, the tallest girl in school. After years of feeling uncomfortable and trying to hide, the time has arrived for Jodie to to find her confidence and stand tall.

Directed by Nzingha Stewart, Tall Girl stars Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Berelc, Steve Zahn…

My five feet 4 inches frame can’t fully relate to to the tall girl experience, so I’m watching to learn and laugh since this is a comedy after all.

Amy Le, Luke Eisner, Candi Brooks, Kelly Murtagh, Jason Rogel, Tracy Brotherton, Conway Solomon and Anjelika Washington also star.

Tall Girl Release Dates: September 13th, 2019 (US)…

WHY HIM (2016): The Things I Liked…

Why Him (2016), Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally, James Franco
Why Him (2016), Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally, James Franco

I’ve always enjoyed James Franco in comedy roles more so than I do his dramatic work. I loved the trailer for Why Him which was well paced and fun, It also contained a healthy handful of good jokes and well placed expletives.

Fast forward to the movie, it could be argued that there’s an unnecessary level of cuss words, though I’d say not too uncomfortably gratuitous. Some scenes were a tad awkward and could have moved along more quickly, but overall I had a good time.

The soundtrack, Franco’s billionaire filterless character’s charm, Keegan Michael-Key’s fun estate manager and  peculiar ‘European’ accent are key highlights.

I also enjoyed the way Megan Mullally’s Barb responds to Franco’s Laird. My favourite of her lines being ‘Quite the outdoorsman.’ Watch it and see why that line is so perfect when it’s delivered – and for the rest of the good jokes. That’s assuming that all those colourful expletives haven’t scared you off, of course.

Why Him? is the new ‘meet the parents’ comedy from James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Megan Mullally and Zoey Deutch…

Clean Trailer

Red Band Trailer – (I love this version because of Franco’s response to ‘ This is a 15 year-old child’ 🙂

Why Him? is directed and co-written by John Hamburg, the man  who wrote for I Love You, Man (2009) and Meet The Parents (2000).

James Franco in roles where he’s a little bit of an idiot but oh, so lovable are my favourite of his work. If you’ve seen and loved  Pineapple Express (2008) and  This Is The End (2013), I’m thinking you understand.
