In new music/drama The High Note which stars Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, Ross is superstar singer Grace Davis. Davis’s over-worked assistant (Johnson) has a choice to make. one that could change the course of both their respective careers.

 Directed by Nisha Ganatra; additional key cast includes Bill Pullman, June Diane Raphael and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

I’m intrigued by the Grace/Maggie friendship and hoping for a great standout song at the end.

I’m not sure whether Ross is doing all the singing herself, but my ears were definitely expecting a deeper singing voice than what we hear in this trailer. Especially since her speaking voice has such a pleasant soothing bass.

Eddie Izzard, Zoe Chao, Ben Lewis, Deniz Akdeniz, Rupak Ginn, Diplo, Sandra Rosko, Sonal Shah and Molly Malin also star.

In new biography / drama Dark Waters, Mark Ruffalo is a corporate defense attorney who takes on a chemical company with a lengthy history of environmental pollution.

Additional key cast includes Anne Hathaway, William Jackson Harper, Bill Pullman…

As a Ruffalo fan, his role in Spotlight (2015 ) where his character fought tirelessly for abuse victims came to mind almost immediately as this trailer played. Then followed Julia Roberts’s great work in Erin Brockovitch (2000).

I’m ready to discover any additional similarities and / or differences between the three; as well as to learn more about the DuPont chemical leaks.

Tim Robbins, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham, Bill Camp, Louisa Krause, Kevin Crowley, Daniel R. Hill, Lisa DeRoberts, Denise Dal Vera, Chaney Morrow and Marc Hockl also star.
