VIOLENT NIGHT (2022): New Trailer Starring David Harbour, John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Cam Gigandet…

John Leguizamo and David Harbour’s latest action/comedy Violent Night will show us what happens when a group of mercenaries attack the estate of a wealthy family. Their plans go far from smoothly. That’s what. And all thanks to Santa Claus.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola; Beverly D’Angelo, Cam Gigandet, Alexis Louder and Stephanie Sy are among the key cast.

I’m so in for all the darker and funny Santa movies that have been happening in recent years. I remember being pleasantly surprised by 2020’s Fatman. It looks like this too is going to be quite entertaining. How can it not be with such a wonderful and reliable cast?

Also, tell me that this trailer and possibly the entire movie isn’t fully worth it, just so we can hear Harbour perfectly deliver that delightful line at 1:47 into the trailer?

Alexander Elliot, John B. Lowe, Mitra Suri, Frederick Allen, Erik Athavale, Brendan Fletcher, Edi Patterson, Alex Hassell and Alexis Louder also star.

Violent Night Release Dates: December 2nd, 2022 (US & UK)…

EXTRACTION (2020): The Things I Liked…

Extraction (2020), Chris Hemsworth, Netflix
Extraction (2020), Chris Hemsworth, Netflix

I’d forgotten that the script for Chris Hemsworth’s latest action / drama Extraction is written by Joe Russo; co-director of several Marvel movies including Avengers Endgame (2019).

It’s no surprise then that even though Extraction is directed by Sam Hargrave and not Russo, it remains a decent movie that has Hemsworth in the believable role of black market mercenary Tyler Rake. Rake takes on a deadly mission to rescue Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.

Thanks to a well written and edited story outline, Extraction is a very engaging film that had me locked in from beginning to end – thanks to well choreographed, brutal fight sequences, gun fights and some unexpected twists and turns.

When I wasn’t at the edge of my seat hoping that Rake and young Ovi survive every attempt at their lives, I was concerned for Rake’s emotional well being because of his own personal trauma that was alluded to at he start.

If I had to choose a favourite scene, it would be the emotional moment that happens on the bridge at the end. I didn’t expect to react to that as strongly as I did. Protagonist Hemsworth’s performance as Tyler Rake is my favourite but I also really enjoyed the work of Randeep Hooda who is great as Saju.

Watch Extraction because it’s a good action film that probably won’t have you too mad that the focus is more on the action and stunts than the story. You’ll also find out how well an action movie set in Dhaka, Bangladesh can turn out.

Lastly, enjoy the nostalgia that comes with watching a movie that features at least three members of the Marvel universe. Namely Hemsworth (Thor), David Harbour (Red Guardian from Black Widow) and Russo (as mentioned above).

EXTRACTION (2020): New Trailer From Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, Golshifteh Farahani, Derek Luke…

Extraction (2020), Chris Hemsworth, Netflix

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Extraction (2020).

In new action / drama Extraction, Chris Hemsworth is Tyler Rake, a fearless black market mercenary who embarks on the most deadly extraction of his career.

Directed by Sam Hargrave; David Harbour, Rudhraksh Jaiswal  and Golshifteh Farahani are among the key cast.

At more than three minutes this trailer feels a tad too long but I’ll still be watching for the suspenseful action, Hemsworth and for the India / Bangladesh setting.

Pankaj Tripathi, Randeep Hooda, Marc Donato, Chris Jai Alex, Geetanjali Thapa, Mir Sarwar, Hays Wellford, Prashant Narayanan, Shataf Figar and Priyanshu Painyuli also star.

Extraction Release Dates: April 24th, 2020 (US) / Netflix…
