Disney Pixar’s Italian Riviera-set animated adventure, Luca has a new and very promising full trailer.
Starring Jacob Tremblay, Marco Barricelli, Maya Rudolph, Jim Gaffigan, and directed by Enrico Casarosa, it’s nearly time to learn about the beautiful friendship between a human being and a sea monster disguised as human.
The colours, location, the story, the cat sporting a moustache and most definitely the music have me looking forward to this movie so much.
Come June 18th, we’ll all get to be in beautiful Italia, the place where words sound like music.
Marco Barricelli, Saverio Raimondo, Emma Berman, Giacomo Gianniotti. and Marco Barricelli and Jack Dylan Grazer also star
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Marvel Entertainment
I liked The Falcon and the Winter Soldierimmediately, thanks to a tense, action-filled first few minutes. This is precisely what I’d been hoping for from a series about two of the Avengers. Even more so considering my disappointment with the first two episodes of WandaVision(2021).
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s six-part series is an action/adventure that sees Sam Wilson (The Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) adjusting to the world following the events of Avengers Endgame (2019). And it’s not long before they have to deal with a new, earthly enemy.
My partiality to a beautiful bromance makes it no wonder that the scenes of Mackie and Stan on screen together are my favourite. The moments when they appeared separately or not at all were often engaging too. Nevertheless, ‘fully engaging throughout’ is not how I can best describe The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There are periods when it feels flat, less urgent, less exciting, and lacking my favourite element of all; the fun action and an adequately speedy pace.
The other issue I have with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is its main villain, Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman); a character whose story/villainy I just didn’t fully buy.
Overall, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is good but I can’t say that I love it in its entirety. However, I will remember it fondly for the bromance/action. Especially in episode one, towards the end of the fourth episode and much of episode five. Make time if you’re curious.
Mosquito Coast is the latest adventure/drama/thriller seven-part Apple TV+ series starring Justin Theroux and Melissa George. It’s the story of an idealist who uproots his family at brief notice to move them to Latin America.
I didn’t realise I hadn’t seen George in a movie in a while until this trailer. How the story explains the parents’ seemingly questionable life choices is why I’m in for this one. The children’s emotional journey through it all is another reason I’m interested. Last but not least, it’s an adventure/thriller. Who doesn’t like those?
John J. Concado, Kimberly Elise and Scotty Tovar also star.
West Side Story (2021), Ansel Elgort, 20th Century Studios
Starring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose; Steven Spielberg brings us an adaptation of 1957’s West Side Story. A musical that explores forbidden love and the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
Just as I’d started to think that these days, Lin-Manuel Miranda is the only big name attached to hit musical movies; Steven Spielberg brings us a remake of West Side Story, the 1967 Oscar winning musical.
I watched the older movie in high school and I don’t recall disliking it as much as I do most musicals. For that reason and general curiosity, I’ll be watching this one. I also just love all the bright colours in this trailer.
David Alvarez, Rita Moreno, Mike Faist, Curtiss Cook, Brian d’Arcy James, Corey Stoll, Ezra Menas, Ben Cook, Sean Harrison Jones, Patrick Higgins, Paloma Garcia Lee and Maddie Ziegler also star.
Jupiter’s Legacy, the new series about a fresh generation of superheroes whose job it is to live up to their parents’ legacy and do their part in keeping the world safe, has a noteworthy new trailer. One that stars Josh Duhamel, Leslie Bibb, Andrew Horton and Ben Daniels.
On account of the trailer music, how Duhamel has been aged, plus his not fully natural-looking beard, this trailer is not quite what I expected. Still, that doesn’t mean I’m not supercurious about how this new superhero series will differ from the stories we’re used to.
To be the children of superheroes appears to have parallels to being born into royalty. Well, except for all the hard physical labour, fighting and danger.
Mike Wade, Tenika Davis, Meg Steedle, Elena Kampouris, Tyrone Benskin, Matt Lanter and Anna Akana also star.
