THE ASSESSMENT (2024): New Trailer From Elizabeth Olsen, Himesh Patel Alicia Vikander…

Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Olsen and Himesh Patel are the stars of The Assessment, a drama/sci-fi film about a future in which parenthood is strictly controlled. And yes, it’s a nightmare, one directed by Fleur Fortune.

I’m definitely curious, and I like Olsen. However, I also see this movie potentially causing me some distress because of the idea that some unhinged lunatic can get to act crazy to test one’s suitability for parenthood.

I’m mad at the premise and how annoying/abusive Vikander’s character seems. Especially since it looks as though she crosses the line several times over.

Are you ready to get your blood pressure up for art’s sake with this one?

Indira Varma, Charlotte Ritchie, Leah Harvey, Nicholas Pinnock, Minnie Driver, Benny O. Arthur, Thiago Braga de Oliveira and Illyassou Balde also star.

The Assessment Release Dates: March 21st, 2025 (US)…

Happy Film Loving,

  1. I’m not used to seeing Vikander play such menacing roles. If the assessor represents the wishes of the government they’re under, maybe best not to have a child under its control. I think they need to disappear and do what they want to do, in peace. I’m a little anxious after watching the trailer.

  2. Very interesting. I didn’t expect to go off track like that, thinking more in line with social worker that comes to check the family before adoption.
As a parent that went through two decades of wishing and considering and sacrificing before the final decision and we are still struggling with the everyday reality I can say not everyone is fit to have or raise a child (with evidence all around in every society). The test seems fitting, in theory at least. Practice is much more complicated and challenging since it’s as much likely for those who fail to become great parents and the other way around. Every child is different and therefore represents a different challenge and no test can cover all the possible nuances. But it makes for a great horror drama!
I’m looking forward to this as an artistic intellectual exercise of human condition in a form of clearly cautionary tale that we as a society should not continue in this direction based on countless memes about pitfalls of parenting.

    1. I fully agree that many aren’t fit to parent. My annoyance is about what seems like an abuse of power by Vikander’s character.

Who knows what she may unearth, assuming her intentions are actually good. Perhaps, Olsen’s character’s angelic look is supposed to throw us off. Let’s see what the finished film reveals.

I agree, the artistic intellectual exercise is what intrigues me most.
