MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (2026): New Trailer Starring Nicholas Galitzine, Morena Baccarin, Idris Elba, Jared Leto…

Starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Masters of the Universe is the story of a young man on Earth who discovers he’s the prince of an alien planet. His destiny now involves a magic sword and a return home to protect his kingdom.

Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe, an action/adventure/fantasy film, has Morena Baccarin, Idris Elba and Jared Leto as additional key cast.

I’d forgotten most of the details of He-Man’s story until reading the synopsis above. Curiosity is once again my main reason for wanting to see this, mostly curiosity about Galitzine’s performance, and partly because I wouldn’t mind a refresher on He-Man lore.

I’ll admit, I laughed when I heard the words ‘I have the power!‘ And both rightly and wrongly, seeing Galitzine in full He-Man attire immediately brought to mind Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan the Barbarian (1982), and Dolph Lundgren in Masters of the Universe (1987).

How are you feeling about this trailer?

Kojo Attah, Stephen Adentan, Alison Brie, Kristen Wiig, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, Camila Mendes, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Christian Vunipola and Sasheer Zamata also star.

Masters of the Universe Release Dates: June 5th, 2025 (US & UK)…

Happy Film Loving,

  1. Currently, it’s not screaming “definitely a good film”. But the next trailer may help with that.

  2. I didn’t know this was in production and I didn’t expect the tone and the setting. It’s still a bit silly as the concept of most 80s kids series, but I’m strangely curious in a good way. They’re obviously not taking themselves too seriously or going all the way to the campy side. It’s a hard needle to thread. We’ll see.

    1. ‘A bit silly’ is an accurate way to describe this. When I think of 80s movies, the only ones that come to mind as silly, for sure, are The Naked Gun films. Though, in fairness, only two other 80s films come to mind right now: Blade Runner (1982) and Working Girl (1988). Fingers crossed that this all comes together well. 🤞🤞

  3. I just don’t know what to make of this yet. I didn’t get a must-see vibe from it, but I am willing to see more before dismissing it completely. I’m not sure who the target audience is for this, and in instances like that sometimes no one shows up. The next trailer will likely reveal itself as to whether it is a kids movie or a more “mature” superhero film.

  4. I think it looks like a lot of fun! It’s a toy movie and I expect it to be silly yet action-packed like Transformers. Not crazy about the Earth subplot, but hopefully they don’t spend too much time there. “I HAVE THE POWER!”

    1. The thought of this being a toy movie is a good point that hadn’t crossed my mind. Hopefully whatever happens on Earth is excellent. Yet, I can imagine that the ideal situation being that He-Man spends as much time on Earth as Superman spends away from it in the Superman movies.
