Minions & Monsters, written, directed by and starring Pierre Coffin; Zoey Deutch, Jeff Bridges, Allison Janney and Christoph Waltz are also among the key cast in a new Minions story that follows the mischievous yellow troublemakers.
This time, they set out to recruit terrifying creatures for their very own monster movie.
I certainly didn’t see that synopsis coming. Nor did I expect another Minions movie. How silly of me.
At this point, it’s clear, if it wasn’t already, that the Minions aren’t going anywhere. Such is the unstoppable commercial power of cuteness and the right shade of yellow.
As a former Minions obsessive (now considerably less so), I’ll still be watching. It turns out that adding monsters to the mix is just intriguing enough to pull me back in.

I’m a little uncomfortable with the Minions conjuring supernatural creatures in a kids movie, but I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. I like monster movies, but something about their design looks off to me. Plus I’m a little disappointed that Gru doesn’t seem to be in it given this is a prequel to a prequel.
Gru was never the draw for me with the Despicable Me movies. So, unsurprisingly, I don’t miss him. But I can see why his absence seems strange. I’m intrigued to see how they handle the supernatural creatures element. If I don’t like it, I’ll just hold on to all the cuteness to keep me smiling. 😊🤓
