Minions and monsters | The Movie My Life

Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Allison Janney and Pierre Coffin are the stars of Minions & Monsters, the Coffin-written/directed next instalment of the adventures of the mischievous yellow troublemakers, the Minions.

The new story sees them recruiting terrifying creatures for their very own monster movie.

“Behold! The all-powerful Irene!‘ Or perhaps, Eyerene!

This silly line and the corresponding scene made me giggle. I’m definitely watching this, and I suspect it will have a similar vibe to Despicable Me 3. Because I imagine ‘Eyerene’ or the tiny monster will be fun like Balthazar Bratt, the purple-suited Michael Jackson super-fan.

Also, is it me or is the speech of the minions making more and more sense with each film? Perhaps in the twentieth movie, they’ll be speaking clear English and be easily understood.

This time, they set out to recruit terrifying creatures for their very own monster movie.

I certainly didn’t see that synopsis coming. Nor did I expect another Minions movie. How silly of me.

At this point, it’s clear, if it wasn’t already, that the Minions aren’t going anywhere. Such is the unstoppable commercial power of cuteness and the right shade of yellow.

As a former Minions obsessive (now considerably less so), I’ll still be watching. It turns out that adding monsters to the mix is just intriguing enough to pull me back in.
