Heart of the Beast is the latest David Ayer-directed action/adventure/thriller starring Brad Pitt.
It’s the story of a Special Forces officer and his combat dog, as they try to survive the Alaskan wilderness following a terrifying plane crash.
I’m into it because it’s Pitt and I do love that Ayer is responsible for End of Watch (2012), one of my favourite films. Yet, I don’t know how much I want to see the survival struggle.
Perhaps I’ll leave this one to the adventurers, the veterans, serious dog lovers and those most excited by the premise.

Looks good. Surprised to see Brad Pitt in a movie with a dog pal, but I’m glad he’s acknowledging soldiers and their military dogs.
Brad generally has a good picker when it comes to movies he chooses to do, so there’s much hope this will be memorable.

Yes, he is usually a good picker. I’m surprised as I see these kind of movies as either trying to shift one’s image as an actor or one isn’t getting the offers for the big films like they used to. Since he has his own production company I don’t think it’s the second one. If it’s the first, he’s played a ruffian/badass/slickster from the beginning (remember Thelma & Louise?) and now this… Yes, he’s a survivalist in it, but still… I will watch it and see if my opinion changes. That is interesting. I never looked at these films that way. Plan B is Pitt’s production company, which gives him the power to make the kind of movies he wants to be in. This type may just have been on his bucket list. Either way, I’m sure it will be worthwhile. Thanks for clarifying, Lisa.
