THE RIP (2026): New Trailer From Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Teyana Taylor, Steven Yeun…

Directed and co-written by Joe Carnahan, The Rip is a new action/crime/drama starring Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Steven Yeun and Teyana Taylor.

Set in Miami, Florida, a group of cops discovers a stash of twenty million dollars in cash. Outsiders soon learn about the money, leaving the officers uncertain of who to trust.

I say yes to gritty, and to Damon and Affleck working together again.

It’s probably because of Good Will Hunting (1997), but I imagined that Affleck would play the one insisting on taking the money, not Damon. However, I’m not mad at this switch because it makes it more interesting.

I wonder if I’ll miss daylight, as this movie plays, since it appears to be set predominantly at night.

Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, Nestor Carbonell, Lina Esco, Allie Moreno and Chyril Paulann also star.

The Rip Release Dates: January 16th, 2026

ANACONDA (2026) New Trailer Starring Jack Black, Thandiwe Newton, Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn…

Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn’s latest, Anconda, is an action/adventure/comedy/horror film involving huge snakes.

Directed by Tom Gormican, Rudd, Black, Newton, and Zahn are a group of friends who decide to remake a favourite movie from their youth.

Welcome, Silliness!

I may not love snakes, especially huge ones, but I do love this cast and what looks like a fun bunch of ill-advised but amusing shenanigans.

Daniela Melchior, Ben Lawson, Ione Skye, Selton Mello, Yasmin Kassim, Diego Arnary, Zak Patel, Romeo Ellard and Aimee Bah also star.

Anaconda Release Dates: December 25th, 2025 (US & UK)…

THE SAVANT (2025): New Trailer From Jessica Chastain, James Badge Dale, Nnamdi Asomugha…

The Savant stars Jessica Chastain as a top-secret investigator whose targets are America’s most violent men, as she infiltrates internet hate groups to bring them down.

Nnamdi Asomugha and James Badge Dale also star, while Simon Stone directs.

This is scarily dark for my current tastes, but I remain interested because it’s Chastain and inspired by a true story.

Also, such vital investigative work suggests an additional meaning for the term ‘first responder,’ doesn’t it?

Will you be watching this one?

Cole Doman, Michael Patrick Thornton, Trinity Lee Shirley, Julian Wanderer, Richard Gant, Laurissa Romain and Valentino Musumeci also star.

F1 – THE MOVIE (2025): The Things I Liked…

F1 (2025), Brad Pitt, Warner Bros. Pictures
F1 (2025), Brad Pitt, Warner Bros. Pictures

As someone whose interest in Formula One generally starts and ends with Lewis Hamilton, the most successful F1 driver of all time, according to many, his involvement as a producer in F1 – The Movie is one of the reasons I had to see it. The main reasons are the well-edited trailers,  its stars Damson Idris, Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem.

I’m happy to confirm that I have absolutely nothing bad to say about my experience watching director Joseph Kosinski’s film. F1: The Movie may not have turned me into someone who, suddenly, has ambitions to attend a live F1 race, yet I cannot imagine what could have made the movie experience better.

Kosinski has delivered a memorable film with a rhythm, writing, pacing and editing that, for me, leaves nothing to be desired. It’s no wonder the music is another key highlight, for the one and only Hans Zimmer is the composer.

At the heart of F1 – The Movie is a story of perseverance, resilience, friendship,  teamwork, redemption, respect and people living their very best lives; all things that speak very loudly to me.

Make time for F1 The Movie if you haven’t yet and you’re curious. It’s perhaps my second favourite movie of 2025, second only to Sinners.

MORTAL KOMBAT II (2026): New Trailer Starring Karl Urban, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee…

Mortal Kombat II (2025), Jessica McNamee, Karl Urban, Warner Bros.
Mortal Kombat II (2025), Jessica McNamee, Karl Urban, Warner Bros.

In adventure/fantasy Mortal Kombat 2, the Mortal Kombat fan-favourite champions, now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn. A rule that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Directed by Simon McQuoid, additional key cast includes Mehcad Brooks, Karl Urban, Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee and Joe Taslim.

I had fun than anticipated while watching Mortal Kombat (2021).

This new trailer doesn’t look all bad. However, I find myself missing Sub-Zero a little bit. Especially because what we saw him do in the 2021 trailer and film was impressive and cool, no pun intended.

I’ll likely give this a chance because a key reason I enjoyed the first movie was the fight choreography. May it still be great for this second instalment, seemingly without sSub-Zero.

Are you also drawn to this one? Where does Mortal Kombat sit in your ranking of movies based on video games?

Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, Josh Lawson, Martyn Ford, Tadanobu Asano, CJ Bloomfield and Steven Cragg also star.

Mortal Kombat II Release Dates: May 8th, 2026 (US); May 15th, 2026 (UK)…
