AMERICAN HUSTLE (2013): Exactly As I Thought

Directed by David O. Russell crime/drama American Hustle is good, and Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence plus Jeremy Renner are all great in their roles.

However, I did find myself not as hooked as the story unfolded – at least not early on.

It’s not that plenty wasn’t happening – and at a good pace. It’s likely that I just didn’t identify with or get especially attached to any of the characters. Things did improve, particularly at the moment ‘Edith’s veil’ comes down.

Watch it if you’re curious about the story of a con man trying to keep the upper hand and stay alive when forced to work with the FBI in 1970s New Jersey.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN – DAWN OF JUSTICE (2016) Interesting…

I thought I’d be more excited after seeing the Batman v Superman – Dawn of Justice teaser trailer than I am.

Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact I’m still living in the past of Christian Bale as the ultimate caped crusader.

Not quite sure about my super heroes fighting each other – as the trailer and title suggest. Either way, I hope the film turns out great. Maybe by 2016, I won’t be so attached to Bale as Batman. Chances aren’t great though, since he was so incredibly fantastic!

JULIE & JULIA (2009): In The Name Of Passion And A Love Of Food

When you sit down to watch Julie and Julia, I highly recommend having a few of your favourite foods with you. I say this because you will find yourself with at least one or two serious cravings.

Based on the life of American Chef, Julia Child, and Writer Julie Powell, Julie and Julia focuses on two ladies with a shared passion for food, cooking and feeding the people they love.

Besides the joy of a well-executed drama about two women who quite literally come alive whilst indulging in their favourite pastime, Julie & Julia will likely inspire you to dedicate more time to pursuing your own passions.

To look at it another way, should the task of silencing doubters be a hobby of yours, or one you wouldn’t mind taking up, then look no further to see it done with such admirable aplomb.

If you’re still unsure, two words. Meryl Streep.
