Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the latest offering from Marvel Entertainment isn’t something I was expecting. But I sure am glad it’s here.

Starring Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh and Tony Chiu-Wai Leung; director Destin Daniel Cretton’s action/adventure/fantasy movie is based on a Marvel comic book, of course, and it focuses on a character named Shang-Chi who’s forced to deal with his past and the mysterious Ten Rings organisation.

So many reasons to be excited about this one. Firstly, I used to watch comedy series Kim’s Convenience. And it’s so great to see one of its stars (Liu) as the lead in a Marvel movie.

Second, I personally had zero prior knowledge of this story. befor ethis trailer. I therefore can’t wait to find out and enjoy all the ways Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is both similar to, and different from other Marvel movies.

Lastly, who could possibly resist the combination of a troubled father/son relationship, exciting fight choreography and all the usual ‘Marvel cool,’ and more? Not me!

Florian Munteanu, Ronny Chieng, Fala Chen, Dallas Liu, Meng’er Zhang and Kelli Bailey also star.

Set in a realm known as Lumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization; Disney’s latest animated action/adventure Raya and the Last Dragon tells the story of a warrior named Raya. And she’s determined to find the last dragon.

From directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada; Raya and the Last Dragon stars Awkwafina and Kelly Marie Tran.

It’s still definitely early to call myself super excited after seeing this trailer. Yet, one thing I already love is the music. Not so much the vocal element but the instrumental and drums.

May the next trailer and finished film thrill and excite us all.

I never religiously watched SpongeBob Squarepants growing up but I have always been quite curious. Maybe Keanu Reeves’s involvement will finally get me to remind myself about why it’s so loved.

The costume design has my attention, as does the casting. I’m quite curious about the on screen chemistry between all the actors.

Starring Awkwafina and written plus directed by Lulu Wang, The Farewell is a new comedy about a Chinese family’s attempts at keeping their grandmother’s impending death a secret from her.

Also starring Diana Lin,  Tzi Ma and Gil Perez-Abraham, the story is centred around Billi (Awkwafina) who’s struggling most with keeping the secret…

I suspect that the grandma is fully aware of what ‘s going on. Just as her own daughter knows of the tradition, so does she.

I’m looking forward to finding out how the movie will come together, the execution of the mood and the way I’ll feel about it. Also can’t wait to learn some new things.

Ines Laimins, X Mayo and Jim Liu also star.
