Guillermo del Toro is the director behind a new retelling of Mary Shelley’s horror classic, Frankenstein.

Starring Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth, Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Isaac) creates a monster (Elordi) that leads to disaster for the scientist and his creation.

I wonder if we’ll see Elordi’s face as the monster; perhaps we shall, in the next trailer.

I’ve already started making peace with missing out on all the lovely cinematography when I fail to watch this because it’s a horror film. At least I’ll always have the trailers, thankfully.

Are you into this good-looking new Frankenstein story?

Ralph Ineson, David Bradley, Charles Dance, Burn Gorman, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery and Lauren Collins also star.

Frankenstein Release Dates: November 2025 (US)…

GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES (2022): New Trailer Starring Ben Barnes, Sofia Boutella, Geena Davis, Andrew Lincoln, Rupert Grint…

Celebrated horror writer/director Guillermo del Toro has a new offering for us; an anthology of sinister stories. Stories told by some of today’s most revered horror creators, including the directors of The Babadook, Splice, Mandy, and many more.

Drama/horror/mystery, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities stars, to name just a few, Ben Barnes, Sofia Boutella, Geena Davis, Andrew Lincoln and Rupert Grint.

The fact that I liked quite a few things about Crimson Peak (2015), the last Guillermo del Toro film I saw is the reason I’m most interested in Cabinet of Curiosities. I’m equally curious about the very promising visual effects.

However, the main reason my viewing of Cabinet of Curiosities is likely to start and end with this trailer is due to the fact that horror is not one of my go-to genres. You know, since I enjoy a restful night of sleep. The other reason is I’m not interested in being fully grossed out, which, based on the visuals above, is a more than likely event.

How curious are you about Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities? Perhaps nightmares are fun for you, yes?

Ben Barnes, Nia Vardalos, F. Murray Abraham, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Ish Morris, DJ Qualls, Tim Blake Nelson, Lize Johnston, Kevin Keppy, Martin Starr, Kevin Keppy, Lize Johnston and Megan Many also star.

NIGHTMARE ALLEY (2021): New Trailer Starring Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Rooney Mara, Willem Dafoe…

New action/crime/drama Nightmare Alley is director Guillermo del Toro’s latest audio-visual feast.

Starring Bradley Cooper, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette and Willem Dafoe, the story follows an ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people. Little did he know that the psychiatrist he’s just hooked up with is far more dangerous than he is.

When big hitters like Cooper and Blanchett are involved, one pays attention. And as I often do, I watched the above trailer before reading the synopsis.

Considering how much is going on in just over a minute and a half of this trailer, plus Dafoe’s character’s non-stop dialogue, which I still haven’t really listened to yet, it’s no wonder I had some trouble keeping up. That’s probably part of the reason I wasn’t sure about just how appealing this movie is to me initially. That of course changed as soon as I learned about the ‘manipulation face/off.’

Now I have to watch to see just how intense it’s all going to get. And for the great colours and beautiful lighting, of course.

Tim Blake Nelson, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, Clifton Collins Jr., Troy James, David Hewlett, Holt McCallany, Paul Anderson and David Strathairn also star.

Nightmare Alley Release Dates: December 17th, 2021 (US); January 21st, 2022 (UK)…

Starring Zoe Margaret Colletti, Austin Abrams, Michael Garza and Austin Zajur, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is a new horror movie about a group of teenagers who face their fears in order to save their lives.

Based on the book by Alvin Schwartz, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is directed by André Øvredal and the screenplay is co-written by Guillermo del Toro.

I rather like the premise of this movie. Perhaps it has the potential to inspire us all to face our fears. Well, maybe not, since this is in fact a horror film.

Also, I quite enjoyed the version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow that’s featured in this trailer.

Gabriel Rush, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Natalie Ganzhorn, Austin Abrams and Kathleen Pollard also star.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Release Dates: August 9th, 2019 (US)…

THE SHAPE OF WATER (2017): New Trailer From Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Sally Hawkins, Michael Stuhlbarg…

Lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) works in a hidden high-security government laboratory and is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Her life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.

Also starring Michael Shannon, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones, The Shape Of Water is an other-worldly fairy tale set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963.

Director Guillermo del Toro is all the reason I need to watch this one, but I’ll add the cast and the intriguing ‘secret experiment’ to the list of motivators.

For some reason, when I read the words ‘high-security government laboratory’ and ‘secret classified experiment,’ Captain America – The First Avenger (2011) came to mind. Anyone else? Just me? Ok.

The Shape Of Water Release Dates: December 8th, 2017 (US)…
