Written / directed by Peter Hedges, Ben Is Back is a new drama about a son who returns home to his unsuspecting family one fateful Christmas Eve.

His wary mother welcomes him but finds that she must do everything in her power to avoid the family’s downfall in the next twenty four hours, for her beloved son is still very much in harm’s way.

Julia Roberts, Kathryn Newton and Lucas Hedges star.

I’m interested because it’s Roberts. I’m also curious about Ben and I’m currently having fun trying to figure out ‘what his deal is.’ Did somebody say drugs?

Jacob Tremblay is such a great young talent. He along with Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson are great reasons to watch this movie. It also helps that the film is based on R.J. Palacio’s bestselling book of the same name. I don’t recall the last time I watched Wilson in a non-comedy role so this should be interesting.
