Directed and co-written by John Carney, Power Ballad is a music/drama/comedy movie about Rick, a wedding singer who learns that a fading boyband star he once shared a jam session with has turned a song Rick wrote into a hit without crediting him. And so begins the journey to claim the recognition he feels he deserves.

Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Jack Reynor and Peter McDonald are among the key cast.

Seeing Rudd with a guitar brings back great movie memories, thanks to I Love You, Man (2009). This is clearly not that kind of movie, but Rudd and the part-comedy categorisation are the reasons I’m interested.

I have a feeling that liking the ‘stolen’ song will make me enjoy the film that little bit more. Here’s to hoping.
