POWER BALLAD (2026): New Trailer Starring Paul Rudd, Peter McDonald, Nick Jonas…

Directed and co-written by John Carney, Power Ballad is a music/drama/comedy movie about Rick, a wedding singer who learns that a fading boyband star he once shared a jam session with has turned a song Rick wrote into a hit without crediting him. And so begins the journey to claim the recognition he feels he deserves.

Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Jack Reynor and Peter McDonald are among the key cast.

Seeing Rudd with a guitar brings back great movie memories, thanks to I Love You, Man (2009). This is clearly not that kind of movie, but Rudd and the part-comedy categorisation are the reasons I’m interested.

I have a feeling that liking the ‘stolen’ song will make me enjoy the film that little bit more. Here’s to hoping.

The Shrink Next Door is a new Apple TV+ series starring Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn and Will Ferrell. One that’s focused on the peculiar relationship between a psychiatrist and his longtime patient.

It’s going to be strange for me, watching Rudd and Ferrell in roles that aren’t strictly comedy.

Also, the idea of Rudd as a seemingly dark character might take some getting used to. Particularly considering how generally likeable he tends to be in most films. Nevertheless, as a big fan of both actors, I can’t wait to see this play out.

Lastly, I chose the above photo of Rudd’s character for the post header because that expression puts a smile on my face each time I look at it.

Casey Wilson, Kesia Brooke, Bob Glouberman, Sarayu Blue and Gable Swanlund also star.

In Ghostbusters – Afterlife, the sequel that doesn’t seem to acknowledge the unfortunate 2016 Ghostbusters movie, the focus is on a single mom, her two kids and the discovery of their connection to the original Ghostbusters.

Paul Rudd, Mackena Grace, Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon star while Jason Reitman directs.

I’m interested because of Rudd, and simply to see the ways in which this sequel is different to the 2016 film.

Based on the above trailer, I see more dramatics and less humour. Something tells me that this one may have a better script. All I really need to know now is what the ghosts look like. Especially since I wasn’t a fan of the ghost animation in the 2016 film.

Bill Murray, Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, Marlon Kazadi, Sydney Mae Diaz, Logan Kim, Dan Aykroyd, Bokeem Woodbine, Ernie Hudson, Oliver Cooper and Celeste O’Connor also star.
