In the 1996 Space Jam movie, the Looney Tunes sought out the aid of retired basketball champion, Michael Jordan, in a desperate attempt to win a basketball match and earn their freedom.

More than 25 years later, NBA megastar LeBron James, Sonequa Martin-Green and Don Cheadle are the stars of the long awaited sequel Space Jam – A New Legacy. And in case you hadn’t already guessed, another very important basketball match must be played, and won.

I already love the music in this trailer. The visuals are great too. Even though, outside of the above synopsis I remember next to nothing of the first Space Jam movie, I’m hopeful because this trailer is promising. And I loved LeBron’s performance the first time I saw him act in 2015’s Trainwreck.

One another thing, Bugs Bunny has always been my absolute favourite Looney Tune.

Kath Soucie, Martin Klebba, Cedric Joe, J. Michael Tatum, Eric Bauza, Xosha Roquemore, Khris Davis, Jeff Bergman, Bob Bergen, Katie McCabe and Chiney Ogwumike also star.

Space Jam – A New Legacy Release Dates: July 16th, 2021 (US); July 23rd, 2021 (UK)….

HOLIDAY RUSH (2019) The Thing I Liked…

Holiday Rush (2019), Netflix
Holiday Rush (2019), Netflix

Starring Sonequa Martin-Green, Romany Malco and La La Anthony, I was initially drawn to Holiday Rush for the festive theme, the decorations (which were OK) and hopefully a good story of someone making their way back after a setback.

Story-wise, I like the general outline of the way popular radio DJ Rush Williams (Malco) managed to bounce back after suffering a career disappointment. And I’m not mad at how, like almost every Christmas themed movie with a focus on family, love and togetherness, Holiday Rush had its own version of a ‘Christmas miracle.’ Meaning that everything came together in the end, just in time for December 25th.

My issue is with the execution. Director Leslie Small’s story relied quite a bit on the usual cliches to build the story and move things along, sometimes in a way that unfortunately felt rushed and contrived in places. Acting-wise, Malco and Martin-Green didn’t do badly. The story edit just didn’t help anyone overall.

At a push, the brief musical performance towards the end is likely my favourite thing about Holiday Rush.

If you’re super curious, Netflix is where it’s at.

HOLIDAY RUSH (2019): New Trailer From Romany Malco, Stormi Maya, Sonequa Martin-Green, La La Anthony…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Holiday Rush (2019).

Starring Romany Malco, La La Anthony, Stormi Maya and Sonequa Martin- Green, Holiday Rush is a new Leslie Small diercted comedy / romance.

The Christmas themed story centres around a popular radio DJ (Malco) after he’s fired and has to move himself and his four spoiled children into his aunt’s house. And it’s from his aunt’s home that he begins to figure out a plan to get back on the airwaves.

I’m in for the Christmas themes of course but perhaps even more so, I want to see how Malco’s character will rise again following the unexpected setback.

Tamala Jones, Deon Cole, Darlene Love, Roscoe Orman, Amarr M. Wooten, Jimmy Palumbo, Chris Walker, Alysia Livingston and Deysha Nelson also star.

Holiday Rush Release Dates: November 28th, 2019 (US)…
