Stephen Frears, director of The Queen (2006), which starred Helen Mirren and Michael Sheen has a new movie based on another British monarch. One who’s played by Judi Dench.
Also starring Olivia Williams, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Michael Gambon and Tim Pigott-Smith, the story of Victoria & Abdul focuses on Queen Victoria’s unlikely friendship with a young Indian clerk named Abdul Karim.
Dame Judi Dench and the promising humour are all the reason I need to watch.
There is also my interest in seeing an ageing female monarch take charge of herself and others with aplomb.
Victoria & Abdul Release Dates: September 15th, 2017 (UK); September 22nd, 2017 (US)…

Have you seen “Mrs Brown”? It’s got Judi Dench as Queen Victoria. It’s about her friendship with a man after her husband dies. She’s great in it.
I haven’t but I think I need to. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂 The lady is is quite simply, great in everything. 😊
Dench is amazing!
You are speaking my language. 😀
I love Judi Dench, she’s a class act. I adore her.
She’s one of my ‘Acting Queens.’ Always a delight to watch.
Oh yes, her and Maggie Smith are cinematic royalty.
I could not agree more.
They are both classy and talented ladies. Can’t get enough of them.
