Biography/drama Mary Shelley is about the love affair between poet Percy Shelley and 18-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. A relationship which resulted in Mary Shelley writing her famous gothic novel, Frankenstein.

Directed by  Haifaa Al-Mansour; Elle Fanning, Maisie Williams, Bel Powley and Douglas Booth star.

I’m in for the story of a woman who overcame and gave us an example of how to turn heartbreak into something beautiful.

Additional supporting cast includes Jack Hickey, Joanne Froggatt, Stephen Dillane, Tom Sturridge and Ben Hardy.

  1. Neither looks nor acting of Elle Fanning impresses me, and I regard her sister in much higher esteem. I remember Tom Sturridge from Far from the Madding Crowd and despite his “handsome” looks, he is always so unlikable somehow. I just hope my fears prove wrong because I am really in love with the novel and its author.

    1. You’re not the first to say that about the Fanning sisters. 🤓 I agree about Sturridge. For me, it may be because I’ve only ever really seen him play unlikeable characters. Perhaps he just has that kind of look. He’s been typecast! 😁

      More than Sturridge and Fanning, its Booth that makes me cautious about how this movie will turn out. I say that mainly because of his work in Jupiter Ascending (2015).
