Directed by Matt Wolf, Spaceship Earth is a new documentary about the group of people who in 1991 built Biosphere 2, a giant replica of the Earth’s ecosystem. A place they decided to quarantine themselves in for 2 years as an experiment.

How and why things went wrong, especially in ways that weren’t anticipated; that’s why I’m interested in this.

There are also the attempts at a cover-up that followed, and the peculiar cult-like activities that took place, which I’d like to understand. Particularly since more and more, it seems as though cult elements are hard to avoid when you have a sizeable group of people who live together and share some very specific and often unconventional beliefs and interests.
