It’s time. Friends – The Reunion, the event that all big fans of the hit 90s sitcom had been ready for long before the pandemic delayed everything finally has a trailer.

Directed by Ben Winston; Friends – The Reunion is an unscripted special starring the original cast. Namely Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), Matt LeBlanc, (Joey Tribbiani), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and more.

I’ll start with a confession: I feel very silly now because I honestly thought that ‘Friends – The Reunion‘ was going to be a catchup with the characters of Friends. Meaning a few new episodes to see where they are now; rather than a catchup with the actors who play the friends.

It’s no one’s fault but my own that I didn’t realise my misguided expectations until now. I’ll still be watching because I enjoyed the show growing up. Also, full disclosure, personally I’m at the stage with Friends now where I no longer get the urge to re-watch the entire series every other year. No wonder I was extra excited about new episodes!

I plan to learn from the error in my ways by paying closer attention the next time a ‘reunion’ of one of my favourite shows comes up. I know the clue was right there in the title. Even so, I guess my heart simply wanted new episodes more than it wanted the nostalgic look-back.

Are you a Friends fan? Will you be tuning in for the nostalgia? Let me know in the comments.

Friends – The Reunion Release Dates: May 27th, 2021 (US) HBOMax

  1. I know it sounds silly.. but I am ridiculously excited for this.. I found Friends before it became ‘FRIENDS’ like super popular. Then at my first job as an asst. at a Talent Agency..they gave me 3 shows to work on..Friends was one of them because it wasn’t that popular at the beginning. I so look forward to it!

  2. I will definitely be watching, and when I first heard about it I thought the same as you that it would be the characters catching up. I think this will be better!

    1. I’ve finally watched it and yes, I still feel that an episode or two would have been so much better. However, what the reunion ends up being isn’t terrible. I hope you get to see it soon if you haven’t already. 🥳

  3. I’ve been really looking forward to the Friends Reunion show. I heard it was going to be on HBO Max. Probably delayed by COVID I guess. Do you know if it’s out yet?

  4. I’ve got a secret too. I never watched Friends. I tried to, but one of the characters got on my nerves so bad I couldn’t keep watching. I won’t say which one though, just in cast they are your favorite.

    1. 😁 Don’t worry. Every so often I encounter someone who’s never seen it, so I’m used to it by now. And you can totally tell me who you found most annoying. It’s usually between two male characters or one of the female characters. I have three favourite and one in particular who became especially annoying. 😁

      1. I can very much relate to that. I’ve been rewatching The Golden Girls and it too has a character that’s become so annoying that I have to skip some of her scenes. I’d stop watching completely but the other 3 are fun.
