SCREAM (2022): New Trailer From Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Jenna Ortega, Marley Shelton…

Director Wes Craven’s 1996 horror movie hit Scream has a new instalment.

Directed this time by Matt Bettinelli-Olpinand Tyler Gillett, Scream 2022 sees the return of Courtney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette, along with new faces including Jenna Ortega and Marley Shelton.

This new story has Sidney Prescott (Campbell), one of the survivors of the original Scream movies returning to her home town; a place where a masked killer has been committing a fresh batch of vicious crimes.

Scream is one of the movies that made me realise that slasher horror films are the kind of scary movies that don’t give me nightmares. As such, I’m watching this, in part for the nostalgia and to find out if this too feels as ‘made for me‘ as the original.

I plan to get happily lost in the story, and hopefully not end up missing all the great characters in the first film. Especially those played by Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich and of course, Drew Barrymore, in th eperfect blond bob.

Will you be watching this new Scream movie, rewatching the 1996 Scream or both?

Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Mikey Madison, Mason Gooding and Kyle Gallner also star.

Scream Release Dates: January 14th, 2022 (US & UK)…

FRIENDS – THE REUNION (2021): New Trailer From Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer…

It’s time. Friends – The Reunion, the event that all big fans of the hit 90s sitcom had been ready for long before the pandemic delayed everything finally has a trailer.

Directed by Ben Winston; Friends – The Reunion is an unscripted special starring the original cast. Namely Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), Matt LeBlanc, (Joey Tribbiani), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and more.

I’ll start with a confession: I feel very silly now because I honestly thought that ‘Friends – The Reunion‘ was going to be a catchup with the characters of Friends. Meaning a few new episodes to see where they are now; rather than a catchup with the actors who play the friends.

It’s no one’s fault but my own that I didn’t realise my misguided expectations until now. I’ll still be watching because I enjoyed the show growing up. Also, full disclosure, personally I’m at the stage with Friends now where I no longer get the urge to re-watch the entire series every other year. No wonder I was extra excited about new episodes!

I plan to learn from the error in my ways by paying closer attention the next time a ‘reunion’ of one of my favourite shows comes up. I know the clue was right there in the title. Even so, I guess my heart simply wanted new episodes more than it wanted the nostalgic look-back.

Are you a Friends fan? Will you be tuning in for the nostalgia? Let me know in the comments.

Friends – The Reunion Release Dates: May 27th, 2021 (US) HBOMax

JUST BEFORE I GO (2014): The Good Things

Just Before I Go (2014), Seann William Scott
Just Before I Go (2014), Seann William Scott

We meet the protagonist, Ted, played by Seann William Scott, at a point in his life when he has decided that it’s time to commit suicide – something he tells himself he must do but only after one last trip to his hometown.

Just before I Go is my first Courney Cox directed movie. It’s also the first time I’ve seen Sean William Scott in a serious dramatic role.

An Actor better known for his comedic work in Road Trip (2000) and the American Pie (1999) movies, I’m happy to conclude that Scott didn’t do terribly. Naturally however, I did find myself half expecting him to suddenly deliver a funny line – but that speaks more to the strength of his most memorable work and type-casting than anything else.

The key subject matter of Just before I Go is dark and some challenging real life situations are Featured. But worry not because this is a drama/ comedy, so the laughs do come and several of them courtesy of actor, Garret Dillahunt.

Just Before I Go (2014), Kyle Gallner

The best scene, in my view is the one where Ted’s teenage nephew, played by Kyle Gallner opens up to his uncle. Gallner’s character work in the movie is great overall – but especially in this scene.

Watch it if the topic of suicide intrigues you, you’re curious about Courtney Cox as a director or you just have to see Scott in a dramatic role. You could also simply be a big fan of at least one of the filmmakers involved.
