It’s time. Friends – The Reunion, the event that all big fans of the hit 90s sitcom had been ready for long before the pandemic delayed everything finally has a trailer.

Directed by Ben Winston; Friends – The Reunion is an unscripted special starring the original cast. Namely Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), Matt LeBlanc, (Joey Tribbiani), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and more.

I’ll start with a confession: I feel very silly now because I honestly thought that ‘Friends – The Reunion‘ was going to be a catchup with the characters of Friends. Meaning a few new episodes to see where they are now; rather than a catchup with the actors who play the friends.

It’s no one’s fault but my own that I didn’t realise my misguided expectations until now. I’ll still be watching because I enjoyed the show growing up. Also, full disclosure, personally I’m at the stage with Friends now where I no longer get the urge to re-watch the entire series every other year. No wonder I was extra excited about new episodes!

I plan to learn from the error in my ways by paying closer attention the next time a ‘reunion’ of one of my favourite shows comes up. I know the clue was right there in the title. Even so, I guess my heart simply wanted new episodes more than it wanted the nostalgic look-back.

Are you a Friends fan? Will you be tuning in for the nostalgia? Let me know in the comments.

Friends – The Reunion Release Dates: May 27th, 2021 (US) HBOMax

DEATH TO 2020 (2020): New Trailer From Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Leslie Jones, Lisa Kudrow…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Death to 2020 (2020).

Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror creator), Al Campbell and Alice Mathias are the directors of new Netflix comedy special Death to 2020.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow and Leslie Jones. Death to 2020 is all about 2020, a year whose story couldn’t be told until now, because it was still happening.

I’m definitely in for all the jokes about what 2020 has been for us all. I already love the joke at the expense of Quibi and everything Leslie Jones said. Can’t wait for more from Samuel L. Jackson.

This looks precisely like what we need to close the less than ideal chapter that has been 2020.

Additional key cast includes Cristin Milioti, Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, Kumail Nanjiani, Joe Keery and Diane Morgan.

Death to 2020 Release Dates: December 27th, 2020 (US), Netflix…

SPACE FORCE (2020): New trailer From Steve Carell, Noah Emmerich, John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow…

Steve Carell, Noah Emmerich, Lisa Kudrow and John Malkovich are the stars of new Netflix 10 part comedy series Space Force.

Created by Carell and Greg Daniels, at the centre of the story is four-star general Mark R. Naird (Carell). Naird begrudgingly teams up with an eccentric scientist to get the U.S. military’s newest agency Space Force ready for lift-off.

I’m definitely getting Veep vibes. Plus the list of professionally funny people involved is pretty promising.

Are you tempted to watch this one? I never did watch the American version of The Office but suspect that Carell’s role here may be a little similar.

Jane Lynch, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Tawny Newsome, Owen Daniels, Diana Silvers, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake also star.

Space Force Release Dates: May 29th, 2020 (US) / Internet…

THE BOSS BABY (2017): The Things I liked…

The Boss Baby (2017), Alec Baldwin

When I first realised that The Boss Baby was about a smart/adult-like briefcase carrying baby, I feared that as I watched the movie, I’d miss the only other smart/adult-like  baby I’d ever known and loved. I’m of course talking about the lovable Stewie Griffin of Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy. Luckily, as I watched the Tom McGrath directed animated movie, not for a single second did the delightful Stewie G. pop into my mind. There was simply too much engaging fun, imagination and general cuteness going on in The Boss Baby.

Undoubtably, the person behind the story of The Boss Baby (Marla Frazee) is an individual with a great imagination – not unlike the film’s main character, Timmy (Miles Bakshi), and many other children you may or may not know. Naturally, kids are going to have a good time with The Boss Baby. But thank goodness, you absolutely don’t have to be a kid to like it.

There were some things that happened in The Boss Baby that really reminded me that I was watching an animation, meaning the rules of what may or may not happen in an everyday situation simply have to be discarded completely. Usually I’m fine with suspending my disbelief, but with this movie, for some reason, I was sometimes less able to do so.

My personal favourite animated films are still Finding Nemo (2003) and Ratatouille (2007)This movie, though not as well executed in every way as the aforementioned, it’s still a fun adventure.

Another personal highlight for me was knowing that the dad character was being voiced by my favourite American talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel; a seemingly nice man whose voice I happen to find rather comforting.

THE BOSS BABY (2017): New Trailer From Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of The Boss Baby (2017).

Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow and Steve Buscemi’s latest movie is The Boss Baby, an animated comedy about a suit-wearing briefcase-carrying baby on a mission…

Who can think of a smart talking cartoon baby boy without the smartest talking cartoon baby boy in the world, Family Guy‘s Stewie Griffin coming to mind?  That’s right, nearly no one, probably.

What I’d like is for The Boss Baby to be so good and engaging that I don’t end up missing and thinking about about Stewie.

I definitelylike this trailer more than the first one, which is a good sign I think. Also I generally love Alec Baldwin’s comedy work so that too is another thumbs up.

Will you be watching The Boss Baby? Let me know in the comments.

TABLE 19 (2017): New Trailer Starring Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow…

Jeffrey Blitz is the director behind the new Anna Kendrick, Stephen Merchant, Craig Robinson and Lisa Kudrow comedy/ drama, Table 19.

Table 19 is that table at a wedding for the random people that the bride and groom aren’t particularly close to anymore, but feel obligated to invite…

I already like the vibe of this trailer, thanks to the edit and music. Also, brothers Jay and Mark Duplass are the writers which  means that at the very least it’s going to be watchable.

Thomas Cocquerel, Tony Revolori, June Squib, Amanda Crew and Wyatt Russell also make an appearance.

Table 19 Release Dates: January 20th, 2017 (US & UK)…
