EXTRACTION 2 (2023): The Things I Liked…

If you enjoyed the action movie antics of black market mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) in Extraction (2020), it’s unlikely that Extraction 2 will disappoint much. If at all.

The action is just as unrelenting, which is mostly a positive thing. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself relieved that you have the ability to hit the pause button to catch your breath, should you need to.

Generally speaking, I had a good time watching Extraction 2, even with the uninspiring use of the ‘unattended phone’ storytelling trope that irked me, due to the seemingly tired and basic execution. I especially loved the welcome cast addition of a much-loved British actor. In otherwords, if I didn’t alreday have sufficient reason to look forward to a third instalment, I certainly do now. There’s even a chance I could enjoy Extraction 3 just as much as the first – and possibly more than the second.

Director Sam Hargrave’s film is undoubtedly watchable, regardless of the fact that it did not quite deliver on the excitement level its predecessor was able to achieve. Perhaps because to me, India is a much more exciting location. Additionally, Extraction 2 seems to have far less, if any of the noticeably impressive camera work that helped make the first movie especially memorable.

By the end of Extraction 2, you will finally know what happened with Tyler’s son. And if your imagination is as overactive as mine, you might also begin picturing all the various ways the aforementioned much-loved British actor could contribute further to the franchise. I mean, the two of them have such incredible chemistry!

Watch Extraction 2 if you enjoyed the first one. You might even prefer it to Extraction

Happy Film Loving,

G

  1. I haven’t decided yet which one I like best. But I did also appreciate the India location. I’d watch another Extraction film.

  2. I haven’t even heard of Extraction! But I do like action so it’s on my list and I’m trying to guess who the much loved is?!

      1. I honestly can’t remember a thing about the first one..so i was like #2..what?? Honestly the minute I start to watch it I’m sure it will kick in. Long Covid brain farts happen constantly. hahahaha

  3. While I found the first one far superior to this second edition, I am still glad I watched it. Had some good moments. I would welcome a third film. I’d also recommend the original movie to anyone!
