The cast of Wicked, director Jon M. Chu’s latest musical/fantasy/romance film is great. And it includes Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
Fans of this long-standing and beloved stage musical will surely be delighted after watching this trailer.
As strong as my aversion to musicals is, this iteration just has way too much going for it for me to look the other way.
From the very talented cast to the costumes, the story of a beautiful friendship, incredible singing voices, triumph over a seemingly strong but actually weak monster and stunning special effects – to name just the most obvious things.
Maybe I’ve finally found another musical film I like, one to add to a list that currently only features The Greatest Showman (2017) Here’s to hoping.
Are you also drawn to Wicked?? I imagine the answer is yes; even more so if you’ve seen the live theatre production.
Keala Settle, Bowen Yang, Adam James, Terence Hughes, Aaron Teoh Guan Ti, Peter Dinklage, Grecia De la Paz, Alfredo Tavares and Bronwyn James also star.
Wicked Release Dates: November 24th, (UK); November 27th, (US)…
Happy Film Loving,

This looks pretty good, visually. Is it too early to smell a costume design award?
Possibly, but perhaps not. I already love Grande’s pink sleeves in the above main image.
Haven’t seen the famous stage musical, but it’s reputation is enough for me to give it a chance. I don’t know if you’re aware, but Wicked is a 2 part film. I’m not sure what that means, but I really wish it was a one off.
Thank you for the info. I had no idea this was a two-part thing. Are they going to make us wait a whole year? Interesting how they haven’t mentioned anything about the film having a second part in this trailer. Perhaps they know audiences will be annoyed if the wait is too long? 🤔
Yeah, it’s next year around the same time.
Thank again.
Oh wow! This one looks to be promising, wonderful characters and costumes!
Amen, sister! 😁
All those colours certainly have my attention, including the green!
I’ve never seen Wicked the Musical. I think they gave away too much in the trailer. I’m intrigued by it nonetheless and plan on seeing it.
Intrigued is right. There seems to be much to look forward to with this one; dare I say, even the singing. Sadly, I think I may have largely given up on expecting trailer makers not to give everything away.
I Think Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba in film adaptation of Wicked is once great Casting of All Time
I’ve never seen the stage musical but based on this trailer and what I’ve heard of her singing voice, I’d say you’re right. 🤓
Oh wow. I know the musical only by name and good reputation but I had no idea it was the origin story of the wicked witch of the west!
My first impression was a variation on a Harry Potter’s school and then Oz got involved…
I’m in the same boat as you, Uri. I also had no clue until I saw this trailer. 🤓
This is my type of movie. Will have to wait for this.
It does look fun, right? I’m sure it will be good. I look forward to experiencing it for the first time on the big screen.
