Fittest on Earth: Final Showdown in Madtown is a documentary about athletes competing for the title of ‘Fittest on Earth’ at the 2023 CrossFit Games.
Directed by David Check, we’ll see the competitors amid exhilarating highs and devastating lows as we watch their personal journeys and displays of pure athleticism.
I’m not a CrossFit athlete and have no plans to be one. So, why does this appeal to me? The same way any sporting competition I choose to watch does. Sometimes, believe it or not, watching other people push their physical limits feels like a good substitute for doing it myself.
It feels good to watch after working out or instead of it. I am also a little intrigued by the characters.
Do you see yourself watching Fittest on Earth: Final Showdown in Madtown? Even more reason to watch if you’re one of the athletes featured.

I know that feeling! It usually hits me on a Sunday evening.
Yep! 😁
Calling it “the fittest on Earth” is a bit of hyperbole. Yes, they are very fit, but compared to Olympic athletes? MMA champions? Who is the stronger, the powerlifter who can lift something very heavy once or the farmer who lifts lighter weights all day?
Good point. I’m sure there’s a smart way to determine precisely why someone would be the fittest. I wouldn’t mind finding out from an expert.
I am not the CrossFit type. However, a few years back I was really big into calisthenics and I often stumbled upon CrossFit vids on youtube. I’ve watched a couple of the world championships. My last job I worked with an athlete in her 50s. Ripped! She was always trying to get me to come to her gym… Sort of a cult!😅
Wow! You have done some stuff EF! 🤓
I agree with you about the ‘cult vibe’, in the healthiest possible way of course. Workout time is my personal time. As such, CrossFit definitely doesn’t fit.
