From directors Brad Ableson, Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, we have Shrek 5, a new animation/adventure movie. One that follows green ogre Shrek and his sidekick, Donkey, on one more big-city adventure.
Starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, we also get to meet Shrek and Fiona’s three children.
I was hoping to be more enthused by this. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t end up feeling close to as unnecessary as the upcoming live-action Moana film. I’d, of course, love to be wrong. After all, this is only the teaser trailer.
At this point, it’s at least a great sign that all three main cast members have returned. Perhaps all will be well in the end.
I might just rewatch one or two of the previous Shrek movies to get in the zone. Will you be doing the same?

I hate hate hate that they changed the animation style! I’m sorry, but it just looks so bad. I couldn’t even concentrate on the jokes. I love Shrek, but I really hope DreamWorks gets the message and changes the animation before it’s too late.
I’m also not 100% onboard. I liked the original, but the sequels got better animation and worse stories. This one feels ok, with some rehashing and some new stuff (the snowman poke at Disney was not bad, but not amazing either). Character models do feel strange. Kind of like Yoda in the prequels.
Worse stories are never what anyone wants. I’m keeping my expectations under control with this one, while hoping for the best. 🤞🤞
I honestly barely noticed the change, but only because it’s been a while. I’m guessing many serious fans dislike the animation style too, and that’s why the comment section for the trailer is turned off. Fingers crossed the style is changed. The question is, can they do it in time for the release date?
